We are pleased to announce the Ferrari Expo -Strictly 43rd Revival will again be held at Continental Autosport Ferrari on April 24th 2010.

We will be having our model contest for Lemans, Indy, F1, TransAm and sportscars. This is a high quality contest with some of the best builders from the USA, Mexico and Canada attending. Several NNL and IPMS Mexico winners will display models. Also many Ferrari/Maserati/Porsche automobiles will be on display.

In 2009 Continental Autosport gave rides in the then new Ferrari California for charity. They also had several rare vintage Ferrrari's on display. This is one show you will not want to miss, and its FREE!!

Here are several links from the 2009 Ferrari Expo:

http://www.kaz43.fotki.com/show/ferrariexpomodelcontest/2009/

http://public.fotki.com/AgaMo/modeling/eventos/ferrari-expo-2009/page3.html

The show is at Continental Autosports Ferrari/Maserati in Hinsdale, Illinois. It is 15 minutes from Chicago O'hare airport.

Hope some of you can make it again.

Only 3 short months until the Ferrari Expo 2010-Strictly 43rd Revival model/photo contest. These contests are held in conjunction with the 29th annual Ferrari Expo Literature and Art show. It will be held on April 24th 2010 at Continental Autosport Ferrari/Maserati in Hindsdale, Illinois.

We have several top modelers from all over the USA planning on bringing models again this year. We also have several superb modelers flying in from Mexico, some of the best modelers I have ever seen. Ramon Garcia, a forum member will be helping organize this again. These models will be worth the trip by themselves!!

We will have a "new model kit table" and a "primer table" this year.

Hope some of you can make it again.

You can enter non Ferrari sportscars/racecars in the model contest(Trans Am, road racing, Indy, F1, Lemans ect. ). They mainly have real Ferrari/Porsche/Maserati cars or vintage sportscars in the showroom.

One of the first Ferrari 458's in North America will be on display.

Here are a few shots of my models from Ferrari Expo 2009. I only display my models at the show, an option all of you can use. I think Ramon Garcia and others would beat me with their superb models anyway, so by not entering I save my ego :) The Alfa 8C is 1/24th and based on the Welly diecast coupe. It really is a great diecast. All these models are 1/24th. I did enter several 1/43rd models also.

I'd like to try and make this show. I'm curious if there will be any vendors selling 1/43rd kit's ans accessories???

F1Tommy

Well last year we had M&M hobbies with several tables of 1/43rd models. Stradasports also had 2 tables. Ebay is killing good 1/43rd and larger scale resin kit swap meets I must admit. Strictly 43rd was really big before Ebay started to get big. Thats why we are turning this into more of a model contest and model display. We do have new resin model kits on display, brought in by manufactures but not as many private vendors. I think they already know bidding prices on ebay will beat any show sale price. There are alot more plastic kit vendors because there are alot more common plastic kits, but I know that's not what your looking for.
The group of modelers that are now coming to this event annually are very talented, so you will enjoy the company and the competition. We do have alot of book and high end art dealers at the show also. I am working on getting more of the old Strictly 43rd guys to show up again this year. I want to arm twist Don Anderson into judging if he will.

Almost finished my first model for this years show. Its a Euro California in 1/24th scale. The kit is by Revell and the wheels/photoetch are Hobby Design. Nice kit that was easy to build. Windows fit like a glove

Those are the kit tires, but I did drop the suspension. The real car does not sit like that unless its on the low setting. The Revell ride height is the stock high setting.

The Revell kit is very nice. The windows mount from the outside, so they fit as good as I have seen on a plastic kit.

You can always drop the model off the night before the show as we set up the tables then. We will lock it up tight with all the real Ferrari's, Maserati's, Porsche's ect.

90 % done with my Fujimi 1/24th Dino 246 Lemans 1972 conversion model. The starting point was the wheels wich are available from a gentleman in Belgium who sells them with the Daytona seats.

Studio 27 did make a decal sheet for this car. The tires and body modifications I did myself. Photoetch is from Hobby Design and includes window frames.
If you want to see the finished Dino it will be at the Ferrari Expo along with many top quality builds from the USA, Mexico and Canada.

See you all at the Ferrari Expo 2010. I want to finish 4 models myself for the show.

This show is open to all scales. We have a special class for high quality 1/43rd models. Bring your 1/24th models. We have a class for those also, as long as they are road racing/F1/Indy/FIA/Lemans/Sportscars and pre 1971 vintage stockcars.

Mark

Hi Mark,

You can enter the AMG under sportcars and the motorcycle under its scale class as long as its not a custom or chopper(FIA race bikes or high performance bikes allowed). No Customs or Nascar. Road cars must be sportscars. A road Corvette, Porsche, Alfa, Aston Martin, Ferrari ect. is a sportscar, a Honda Civic is not. The venue is for sportscars/road racing/Lemans/F1/Indy/FIA/Trans Am/FIA touring cars/DTM ect, in all scales. Must be hand built by the person entering(you can enter for someone else if they can't make it but their model can). No prebuilts or diecasts allowed as this is a model building contest. We would prefer the models be on display between 10AM-3PM. We will judge them at 2PM.

If it's really well built you can bring them, but they will not fit into the theme wich is for racecars/sportscars. We had a few models that were well built but did not fit into the theme just displayed last year.

If it has flames and candy apple red paint leave it home:).

We will have a suprise very limited new Ferrari kit on display(not done by Scale Designs). I will only have 1 for sale. I have been told by the Manufacturer to not say what car it is. Only a few dealers will have it, none of them in the USA. It is not 1/43rd scale.

Don't forget, the best model of show winner will walk away with a $200.00 gift certificate from Strada Sports.

Well thats not good, but atleast you can make it to the show. Im sure everything will work out as the economy seems to be picking up.

The Ferrari 458 will not be in attendance, but many other Ferrari's will be.
They have a 1955 Ferrari 500 Mondial, 250 GT 1955 speciale and 250 GTE Lusso 1964 in the showroom now, along with the more common stuff(599's ect.).

Who cares about all the real Ferrari's, its the models we go for:)!!

Hi Tommy!
I will go from Mexico City, happy to participate at Ferrari Expo.
Since buying my tickets months ago and I prepared my best models to enjoy a great weekend in Chicago.
I would like to make a suggestion if itīs possible.
Could you separate the categories of 1 / 20 from 1 / 24? I think that giving more life and variety to the event, more models of different sizes, especially F1, which I carry a F2001.
Thanks a lot and I hope we meet next saturday

last year, we had 2 F1 models, one of mine and one from another person, if there was a major influx of 1/20 kits that showed up every year, I'd believe there would be a separate category.

I think we had 3 F1 in 1/20th scale last year. We had more F1 in 1/43rd, but if we do get a good amount of 1/20th models I will add another category. I know alot of great models are being made in 1/20th, so I hope we see alot more this year. Can't wait to see your model Charbel. Great! The more the merrier!

More categories sounds like a great idea! I also think that, if there are more classes, more people will be attracted to the show since the competitions grows, the classes are more even in terms of the detail the scale size allows and more people bring back home something!

As Charbel said, he is bringing one 1/20, I’m bringing one also and I think there is another coming from Mexico as well (wait to see that Revival)

See you tomorrow!

Some of the models and cars at Ferrari Expo. A very good turnout again. Ramon Garcia won best of show with the black Ferrari 599.
Steve Yuen took second in 1/24th with the C6R. Also the Ferrari F2001 by Charbel Perez Caram from Mexico was a great build by this new to Ferrari Expo model builder. He also did the fantastic Nissan 300ZX. We had 4 new builders join us this year, 2 from Mexico. It keeps growing every year. Check out the C9 that was on the primer table. The 1/43rd winner was John Tinay with his very nice Mclaren MP4/5 with driver figure.
Mike Klessig took best large scale with Porsche 910 1/12th Tamiya. It was also nice to see a built 1/12th MG Ferrari D50 in person. The model looks alot better in person.

Thanks to kaz, spike and all the rest who have made this part of their schedule!!
