2000 Honda Passport - Whine on Accel

My Passport has just started having what I call a high pitched whine when giving it gas. I just had the EGR valve replaced due to code P0401 but did not have the passages to the manifold, etc, cleaned. Since replacing EGR I have gotten the code twice more & was wondering the whine could be because the egr passages are clogged, or if I need to look elsewhere, trans, drive train?
