'01 Taurus SEL Mach Audio amp questionmc899ftjesus 11-13-2009, 07:44 PM If I want to install an amp and subwoofer, where would I get the RCA to put into the amp? Is there a wire that I can split going into the RCU? Don't mean to double post but my question was buried in the other post. shorod 11-13-2009, 10:47 PM If all you're adding is an amp for the sub, you don't really need the best signal possible. You're easiest solution may be to use a line level converter to take the leads to the rear speakers, convert them to low-level RCA lines and use those for the subwoofer amplifier. -Rod mwt47 11-14-2009, 08:32 AM Rod is correct. Cery easy to do. mc899ftjesus 11-14-2009, 01:24 PM Thank you so much! mc899ftjesus 11-14-2009, 01:25 PM Wait one quick question... How many watts are going to the speakers in the back? shorod 11-14-2009, 10:45 PM I'm afraid to ask why you're asking. You will not be able to power the subwoofer off of those speakers, even if you used a passive crossover. The power to them depends a bit on which stock audio system you have, probably something like 15-25W for the standard systems. The power to the speakers does not have an impact on using a line level converter as most of them have a "gain" control anyway as well as the amplifier having gain control. -Rod mc899ftjesus 11-15-2009, 12:12 PM Oh, no, of course not. I just wanted to make sure the converter that I got could handle the wattage. Thank you so much!! Rod you rock!! shorod 11-15-2009, 03:56 PM The input impedance of the converter is so high it shouldn't have any problem. It probably be something like 11kohms and be capacitively coupled. -Rod vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
