Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R Nismoiceracer1 11-12-2009, 08:51 AM To practice a bit with my airbrush I picked up a simple Aoshima kit out of my pile. It's the Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R Nismo. http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_003_%28Medium%29~19.jpg There are not many parts in it. Some extra parts for the drift option are included but I think I don't use them. http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_004_%28Medium%29~18.jpg It will be OOB but only some different colors. The body is already sanded, and the panellines are cutted out. http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_005_%28Medium%29~16.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_006_%28Medium%29~15.jpg The kit includes some nice Nismo rims, which will be used of course. http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_007_%28Medium%29~13.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_008_%28Medium%29~12.jpg I think this Metallic Midnight Blue from AutoAir would be a nice color for the body. http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_009_%28Medium%29~11.jpg The interior will be grey/blue. Kris. tuned.by.twenty 11-12-2009, 08:57 AM It looks promising so far Kris, can't wait to see the colour on it. iceracer1 11-12-2009, 01:38 PM First update here :) This morning I painted the body for the first time using my airbrush on a body. I had some dust in my paint but nothing to worry about. http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/spuitwerk_001_%28Medium%29.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/spuitwerk_002_%28Medium%29.jpg After that I started to add some decals from the kit. Than I thinned the Tamiya X-23 Clear and painted a couple of layers on it. I found the clear a bit dissapointing, so next I'll use something like 2K Clear or something. But for a first time I think I did it very well :) At least I'm very happy with the result. The light orangepeel will be removed with polishing the body, so after all it will be shiny though :) http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/spuitwerk_003_%28Medium%29.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/spuitwerk_004_%28Medium%29.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/spuitwerk_005_%28Medium%29.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/spuitwerk_006_%28Medium%29.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/spuitwerk_007_%28Medium%29.jpg And than move on to the interior. I first painted it with Humbrol 125 Grey and mixed it with some Flat Clear from Humbrol as well. Than I masked of some of the parts, and painted it with Revell 54 Flat Blue. After removing the maskingtape, I was very suprised by the result. A very smooth paint and maskingjob I have to say myself :D http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/spuitwerk_008_%28Medium%29.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/spuitwerk_009_%28Medium%29.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/spuitwerk_010_%28Medium%29.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/spuitwerk_011_%28Medium%29.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/spuitwerk_012_%28Medium%29.jpg The center of the dash and the console in the middle will be painted black I think. For me no spraycans anymore! AIRBRUSH FTW! :bigthumb: Kris. xpeed 11-12-2009, 02:52 PM Nice paint job! What kind of airbrush you have? I'm looking into buying one myself. potsie 11-12-2009, 09:44 PM Wow - excellent paint work. I have been thinking about an airbrush for a while, and I think you have just convinced me. Perhaps Santa will be kind to me this year!! iceracer1 11-13-2009, 04:42 AM Nice paint job! What kind of airbrush you have? I'm looking into buying one myself. I use a Harder & Steenbeck Evolution Two in One. http://www.obeeliks.com/contents/media/evolution_05.jpg It's a really nice airbrush and one of the best airbrushes you can buy if you are a beginner or a prof. I always kept away from airbrushes because they are very expensive, and you also need a expensive compressor. But it's more than worth it, cause the paint is very cheap comparing the expensive spraycans. Kris. xpeed 11-14-2009, 02:15 AM ^ Too pricey for my blood. Maybe when I'm more serious in this hobby I will invest in one. Right now, I'm too busy building a new computer set up and it's sapping up all of my money. =( tuned.by.twenty 11-14-2009, 12:52 PM Your paintjobs always blow me away. iceracer1 11-15-2009, 12:06 PM New update: First I started with the chassis. Painted it flat black and painted some details in metal colors. http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/chassis%2Binterieur_001_%28Medium%29.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/chassis%2Binterieur_002_%28Medium%29.jpg Than I painted the brakes with the airbrush. I used first some silver paint and after that I added some thinned smoke to fill up the holes. After that I painted the gold trim and red brakecalipers. http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/chassis%2Binterieur_003_%28Medium%29.jpg Glued it all together and start wheatering it with Tamiya's make-up set :) http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/chassis%2Binterieur_004_%28Medium%29.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/chassis%2Binterieur_005_%28Medium%29.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/chassis%2Binterieur_006_%28Medium%29.jpg On to the interior. I first added some interiorflocking, and painted some details. http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/chassis%2Binterieur_007_%28Medium%29.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/chassis%2Binterieur_008_%28Medium%29.jpg As usuall I added some magazines and also a radioface on the dashboard. http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/chassis%2Binterieur_009_% http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/chassis%2Binterieur_010_%28Medium%29.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/chassis%2Binterieur_011_%28Medium%29.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/chassis%2Binterieur_012_%28Medium%29.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/chassis%2Binterieur_013_%28Medium%29.jpg The windows are painted with the airbrush. http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/chassis%2Binterieur_014_%28Medium%29.jpg The wheels and spoiler will be gun metal and chrome, so I also start to paint the wheels gun metal. http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/chassis%2Binterieur_015_%28Medium%29.jpg Kris. MidMazar 11-15-2009, 12:39 PM Nice progress kris, i like the weathering on the chassis. Those tamiya sets are great to use. Everything looks good. Did you scale down the magz or are they bought? da_ashman 11-15-2009, 06:50 PM Nice work, fantastic wheathering on the chassis, great choice of colour for the body, cant wait to see it finished!!! countach79 11-16-2009, 03:26 AM very nice looking, especially the interior!! iceracer1 11-16-2009, 08:47 AM Nice progress kris, i like the weathering on the chassis. Those tamiya sets are great to use. Everything looks good. Did you scale down the magz or are they bought? These magazines are bought from Scaleproduction.de, but I also have my own scaled donw magazines. I only need a better printer which prints more sharper. Kris. prortiz80 11-21-2009, 01:16 PM i have the same kit i was working on till i started working to much and had to put a hold on it im making mine a bit different ....the suspention was remade and alot of other thing i didnt like ...take a look.....Nissan skyline DRIFT Machine... (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=957819) sileightsix 11-21-2009, 10:06 PM gosh, you have gotten so good at this. The paint application in all respects is simply beautiful. I remember way back when you first started posting pictures. Incredible to think where you are now. VERY Impressed. iceracer1 12-04-2009, 01:05 PM @sileightsix: Thank you very much :) Yes I do get a lot of nice replies from people, and I really improved the last years. The last years i'm very busy with modelling and with forums like this and many others, my skills are getting better and better :) I even write articles for a dutch Tamiya magazine with my own models :) and win prizes on contests in Netherland. That are my best compliments and I like it when other people like my work. A couple weeks ago I polished the body, but after a week the paint was still not dry enough on some areas. I polished trough the paint and it felt like rubber. I putted the body in the brakefluid and the next day I primed it again. I also added another 4 layers paint on it, and than wanted to clearcoat it. This time I used a spraycan from Motip. After one layer (before adding the decals) I wasn't satisfied with the result, so I putted again in the brakefluid. A couple days ago I primed the body again, and today I putted 5 layers of paint on it. Now it looks like this: http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/opnieuw_001_%28Medium%29~0.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/opnieuw_002_%28Medium%29~0.jpg I also painted the wheels and rearspoiler with Gun Metal paint from Humbrol. The spoiler is clearcoated and the wheels will be matt. http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/opnieuw_003_%28Medium%29~0.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/opnieuw_004_%28Medium%29~0.jpg And this is how it looks like at the moment: http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/opnieuw_005_%28Medium%29~0.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/opnieuw_006_%28Medium%29~0.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/opnieuw_008_%28Medium%29.jpg Meanwhile I added 3 layers of TS-13 Clear on it, and it looks good to me :) Some polishing will do the rest :D Kris. Twowheelsrule 12-04-2009, 05:14 PM I have been following your build and it is looking great! Keep up the good work! It takes a lot of work to write articles for a magazine so, congratulations. I am far from an English expert but, one small note: "I putted the body in the brakefluid" Should read I put the body in brakefluid. The word "put" is past tense and "I am putting" is present tense. Your English is really good and I hope to read more of your posts, Mark tuned.by.twenty 12-05-2009, 12:40 AM I love it! A clean, simple Skyline always gets thumbs-up from me. mopar man 12-05-2009, 09:46 PM I realy like the build so far I dot mean to be picky but in your interior n the driver side rear top corner of the seat I see some red still didnt now if you noticed it iceracer1 12-06-2009, 10:19 AM I realy like the build so far I dot mean to be picky but in your interior n the driver side rear top corner of the seat I see some red still didnt now if you noticed it I don't see them, but that is because i'm colorblind. Probably it is a small piece of red, and because I use bright light the red plastic shines trough. After placing it under the body you won't notice it anymore :) Thanks :) Kris. xpeed 12-06-2009, 11:24 AM Really? Didn't know you were colorblind. Are you colorblind to red? Because I was wondering how you would know if your red would come out great for your FTO. '__' iceracer1 12-07-2009, 05:05 AM Really? Didn't know you were colorblind. Are you colorblind to red? Because I was wondering how you would know if your red would come out great for your FTO. '__' Yes Xspeed :) My hole life is in black/grey/white shades :D:lol: No, off course I can see red. But a few colors are hard to see for me. I can see them, but don't know what color it is. Especially with colors like blue and purple or green and brown. The different shades between them are hard to see. For the interior I really don't see any red shines trough, but I don't know why :D I still can see cool colors, and that's why I choose Pearl Red for the FTO :D Kris. iceracer1 12-10-2009, 11:49 AM From a fellowed modelling friend I've got some new decals for the emblems and other decals from a calsonic R32. I added them after 1 layer of TS-13 Clear and then I added 3 more coats. http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/2eclear_001_%28Medium%29.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/2eclear_002_%28Medium%29.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/2eclear_003_%28Medium%29.jpg Hope to get it polished next week. Kris. scorpiopab 12-10-2009, 02:07 PM very baeutiful. iceracer1 12-14-2009, 03:25 PM Today I polished the body. It's a very nice and deep shine, but hard to take on the pics with a TL light. I'll take some outdoor pics this week to prove it :) http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/gepolijst_001_%28Medium%29~0.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/gepolijst_002_%28Medium%29~0.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/gepolijst_003_%28Medium%29~0.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/gepolijst_004_%28Medium%29~0.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/gepolijst_005_%28Medium%29.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/gepolijst_006_%28Medium%29.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/gepolijst_007_%28Medium%29.jpg http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/gepolijst_008_%28Medium%29.jpg Now it's time to paint the windowframes and assembly the left over body parts.
