Clicking noise

I have a 96 2.2 when i accelerate from a stop sign or light i hear a clicking sound coming from under the front of the car.

Could be. A bad CV shaft will make a rapid popping noise (like a popcorn popper) which gets faster the faster the axle spins. They will typically only make noise while turning, but a very bad one could make straight-line noise too.

If it's only one pop, then it's more likely (1) a bad strut mount (car lifts up in front a bit and partially unloads the mount. (2) a bad lower control arm bushing letting the arm hit the subframe/engine cradle.

Have someone rock the car side to side and/or bounce the front up and down. If you can recreate the noise like that, use a long handled screwdriver as a stethoscope and listen for where the noise is the loudest. You may also be able to feel it pop, especially if it's a strut mount.
