98 sho wont start no powermulletworm 11-09-2009, 11:33 AM my 98 sho will have no power at all. out of the clear blue you turn the key everything is dead.no dome light radio nothing at all then all of a sudden one time you hear a click then starts right up. turn it off may have nothing again. yesterday it lost all power three times driving down the road then jack with it start right up. help please!! i tryed moving shifter back and forth put in neutral still nothing i cleaned turminals even tryed jumper cables no change shorod 11-09-2009, 11:14 PM I'd start by testing out or replacing the ignition switch (not the key cylinder switch). -Rod serge_saati 11-09-2009, 11:55 PM I don't think it's the ignition switch, cause it can't prevent the dome light to working. Even if you clean the terminal, I still think that it can be a bad connection somewhere between the red positive cable and the fuses, or around there. Or maybe a bad ground with the negative cable. When it happens, test continuity between positive terminal and fuse/relay box connectors. Test until you find the bad contact. shorod 11-10-2009, 10:39 AM Good catch. I guess maybe a definition of "jack with it" from the OP might help. Is there a particular way you "jack with it" that seems to reliably cause it to have power and start? -Rod serge_saati 11-10-2009, 11:31 AM I think he means: "play with the key". shorod 11-10-2009, 05:08 PM That's what I assumed as well which is why I suggested ignition switch. It will be interesting to hear back as to if that has any impact on starting. -Rod mulletworm 11-10-2009, 05:17 PM im very sorry " jack with it " was not very explanitory. i am sorry for that. i narrowed it down to the ground wire or possibly the negative post on the battery bein cracked inside some how. i am goin to get a new ground wire and test the battery. it is currently running fine but i know it is not fixed. i arched the wire and put the terminal on at a different angle and it has not lost power yet. thank you guys. i was worried maybe it was a relay or such. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
