I am building a 1947 fourdoor cheverolet sedan street rod. What kind of
chassis should I put under it?

There are a couple aftermarket companies making stronger frames for this application and I know Art Morrison is one.TCI is another one.You can use the old frame, box the frame very well which is very easy.

Among the more popular and economical ways to do it is to use the front subframe from a 2nd gen Firebird or Camaro ('70-'78 are not "metric" fasteners). Excellent brakes and steering are available, as well as the ease of "dropping in" a big Chevy engine with headers that fit (out of the box), etc. Upgrading the rear suspension is not as complex as the front in those old parimeter frames.

Yes, that's what I did with my '53 Chrysler. Relatively easy job for a good welder/fabricator.

I think a '70's Nova subframe will work, too.

For most streetrods like that people just use the original chassis with a mustang II front end. I've also heard of people using subframes of Nova's, and Camaro's. I have a 1940 Chevy Special Deluxe that I'm working on and I have a 74 Nova Subframe that I'm going to try and fit in. Good luck with your project.
