2004 jeep cherokee shuts down while drivingcraigjeep 11-03-2009, 01:02 PM My 2004 Jeep Cherokee inline6 shuts off while driving after about 20 mins. Dealer could not identify problem Second mechanic check fuel pressure- no pressure loss – problem still persist Replaced throttle position sensor – problem still persist Replaced crankshaft position sensor – problem still persist Replaced fuel filter - problem still persist I realized that the battery sprayed acid under the hood, but mechanic believes that it was not bad enough to damage any wires. The wires are all in tack and show no erosion. I ordered a fuel pressure gauge to try and monitor pressure while driving car in hopes to see if the fuel pump is faulty. If that fails I can only assume it is the PCM or the wire harness. Help!!!! rhandwor 11-03-2009, 08:12 PM I would check the ground connections. Also use contact cleaner and clean connections that could have been sprayed. Did the problem start immediately after the new battery was installed? This information will help to find the problem. I found loose batteries that weren't clamped down that moved and hit a ground and shut down the engine. hundahunta 11-06-2009, 11:30 PM pcm.....does the cluster reads no bus, i assume there were no dtc's.....usually if it is a pcm problem, it'll reset itself. you can tell if the pcm resets itself if the mechanic would check....starts since set... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
