hello I have a 98 lumina 3.8. I've had this problem for a while now and cant figure it out. I have the following trouble codes p0102, p0171, p0452. I start the car and let it just idle in my driveway, it runs fine for 6-8 minutes then the idle drops momentarily then kicks up, and after repeating this a few time the engine stalls. From a cold start while driving the vehcle it usually runs fine the first few miles. however while accelerating it will studder for a split second usually above 2500 rpm it doesnt do it every time while accelerating, but does it frequently. After the car has driven a good distance it may die out at a light, while accelerating, or while at cruising speed it runs fine but just dies out, starts back up fine but may die out instantly again or a few minutes later. I replaced the fuel pump a few months back along with the fuel filter, cleaned the maf sensor and checked all over for vacumn leaks with no signs of any. someone please help:banghead:

Codes point to a lean condition and a maf code, so lets assume since the maf can cause 171 that may be source of the problem, check your connections first, also what did you use to clean the maf, some solvents can damage the hot wire and circuitry

thanks for your response. I checked all connections, then after problems started I rechecked all connections again, all are good. I used a maf sensor cleaner that is specifically designed to clean them, i forget the name off hand. my maf sensor looked clean when i pulled it out no damage or dirt.

Yeah you should check all the vaccuum hoses and for leaks behind the MAF and for any vaccuum leaks. Check for 5V reference and check that you have battery voltage between the ign feed wire and the ground wire. Since you say the connections are good, if all that checks good for sure then its pointing at a bad MAF.

You have 2 systems running low voltage input, I have to agree bad connection in system. EEC by itself could cause the problem.
