i have a 96 lumina with a 3.1 motor, when i start the car or when i open any door their is a clicking on - off, on -off ( kinda sounds like the blinker relay ) and i swear it feels like the relay is under my left foot! it runs for about 1-2 minutes then stops by itself. but it is deffinatley NOT the blinker and as it clicks the dome light flashes in the same rythem as the blinking sound...it does it EVERY time i start the car or open the door with the key in the "run" position... also the "anti lock brake" light is on in the dash. could this be linked to the abs somehow? is it letting me know their is a problem? the brakes work good, no problems. :runaround:its driving me nuts!!! :jump3::swear:

The abs may not be related to this issue. It is possible the module that controls the interior lites is going bad, this is the same unit that leaves the int lites on for 20 seconds when closing the doors. Tackle that first, but the abs is usually not related

f.y.i. ----- well it turns out the blinking lights and the clicking sound was a malfunctioning aftermarket keyless entry system. i did'nt know it had a keyless entry system untill the owner (the girlfriends little sister) gave me the other set of keys with an aftermarket key fob unlocker. then i found the control box under the floormat on the left side of the drivers floorboard. it turns out the wires were rubber thru and making the system malfunction, fixed the wires, no clicking, no blinking, and now the keyless entry system works!

Is the ABS light still on?

Is the ABS light still on?

yeah, but the brakes work fine?? no codes came up on the scanner tool related to the abs, it's proably just a dirty wheel speed sensor...

If the abs lite is on there is a stored code, are you sure you are using a scanner specifically for the abs or a high line scanner with an abs function cartridge or program.

i gotta look again, i have a $300 mac tools obd 1&2 scanner tool. im not sure about any additional abs programs? im really not that conserned about it, like i said the brakes work fine, i know the abs wont work on the ice or wet pavement if the lights on....whatever i just need to get to back on the road for the owner. this lights been on ever since she owned the car, i'd like to fix it for her, but she's hounding me for her car back.

If it is a broken or dirty connector an it shorts internally, it may reenable the system which is very dangerous as this could cause the brake pedal to 'freeze-up', and the customer will not be able to depress the pedal.
