Power Steering Question

Ok. So, I know I need to add fluid to my power steering, however I don't know exactly what fluid to add. I have read different things. Do I add actual power steering fluid or DEXRON III? Most Chevy's I know/have worked on before take the DEXRON III, but the owners manual says power steering fluid. What does everyone else use? I don't want to mess it up anymore than it already is. Thanks for your help.

I'm not a mechanic so don't take my advise as WORD, but the only Dexron III I know if is transmission fluid. I'm not sure that they make Power Steering Fluid. I could be wrong though, I'd just put in plain Power Steering Fluid to be safe.

I've always used dextron 3 in my power steering pumps. Years ago I was told they were the same thing and I've gone with that fact ever since. Saves lots of cash :iceslolan
