Anybody ever align a door on 95+ Cavy?oneroundko 10-29-2009, 04:48 PM Having trouble with a new door I just put on. I tried several times with a helper to get it just right but it's hard as hell. I tried using a hydraulic jack, pushing, pulling...nothing works. It's a '96 Cav - just looks to be like four bolts. Is this a professional only situation here? I'm afraid if I keep tightening and loosening I might strip the bolt areas out. Anyone??? Also, is the lock inside hard to get out? I had problems in the past with my lock and have a vague idea what's going on in there (also had my system stolen out of the trunk so I'm aware of that little metal shimmy). rodfoster 10-31-2009, 07:14 AM I had to change the lower hinge on my 2 door, I found out the hard way that adjusting the lower hinge moves up or down the upper rear part of door. On this car you had to get at the INSIDE wheelwell to acces one bolt. Once I got to that bolt, things went easier. Also, I was adjusting the striker, but I knew I was just cheating. Honestly I never got it 100%. I talked to a guy from a body shop and he said they use shims sometimes behind the hinges. Flatwashers would likely work. The head of the other bolt is on the inside of wheelwell- you can't even see it until the liner is off. oneroundko 10-31-2009, 06:42 PM Actually no the door had to be open to get at the bolt(s) from that side. Do I take the whole damn fender off, or are the bolts there just beyond the plastic liner piece of crap? Can you tell me how to do it....it would be greatly appreciated. rodfoster 11-02-2009, 11:30 AM Oh no you don't need to take the fender off, just the liner. You will need to take the wheel off, all the clips and screws for the liner (maybe push pins, I can't remember) and the head of that bolt is what you are after. oneroundko 11-02-2009, 02:30 PM Oh no you don't need to take the fender off, just the liner. I hope you will post back if I have questions, because I might run into trouble. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
