Ferramboataschner 10-28-2009, 02:47 PM Forgive me the purists, but I liked this car a lot. To me that is the hot rod essence. To take one part here, put another over there and… Voilà! You got a custom ride! Ferrambo 1960 Rambler Wagon, chassi made by Art Morrison, Ferrari´s 3.6 V8 engine, front and rear suspension. All parts from a crashed 360 Modena. By Divers Street Rods. 2008 Ridler Award (Autorama) winner. Purists or not, the fact is: this ride represents an outstanding building! http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/00.jpg http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/01.jpg http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/02a.jpg And there it is!! Base kit: ‘53 Ford Wagon from R&R resin http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/03.jpg At first, I did not have in mind to make the model 100% equal to the original Ferrambo. Insomuch, I gave the fenders a square look and was intended to use this wheels set. http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/17.jpg But, as we used to say: “Once in hell, give daemon a hug”! So, I asked myself: why not??? So, I decided to build “THE” Ferrambo. I’ll try to do my best to make it happens. Side panel that was sanding away! http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/04.jpg The body without originals pillars / new ones in place (correct angle) http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/05.jpg http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/06.jpg The original rear with rounded tail lights / new rear panel made with heated styrene / new egg-shaped tail lights made with Tamiya´s putty and some Dremel working on it. http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/07.jpg http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/08.jpg http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/09.jpg http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/10.jpg The front panel has received a 2mm styrene piece. The original ’53 Ford hood is too peaked and was smoothed. Also, another piece of styrene was glued to make the rounded edge fabrication possible. http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/11.jpg http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/12.jpg http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/13.jpg http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/14.jpg Still there is a lot of body work to do. So far, the body is waiting for the new fender lines. http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/16.jpg remingtonbox 10-28-2009, 02:53 PM I love this thing... I also love the fact that you are completely butchering/recreating a resin kit! I have never seen a resin kit modified to this degree. sportracer02 10-28-2009, 03:28 PM Great idea, I know the 1:1 car from a webside Looks cool so far, I´ll follow this NissanSkylineGTR98 10-31-2009, 12:35 PM Never seen anything quite like this :D Keep up the great work, looking forward to seeing how this turns out! star21 10-31-2009, 02:51 PM wow! that thing looks awesome. the front end looks very vintage ferrari. i wonder how much air the engine takes in since there are no scoops on the side. i see the air intake pipe connecting in to the fender but still... tuned.by.twenty 10-31-2009, 03:24 PM To be honest, when I saw 'Ferrambo', I was thinking Ferrari/Lamborghini, but this is way cooler! This resin kit has no idea what it's about to go through. :D Modelstate 10-31-2009, 05:01 PM Whell seeming that I really like Ferrari's and I have seen this on the net before. I really like it too and look forward too the result of you're build. Arno. carlos alberto 11-01-2009, 07:59 PM This beautiful model, good to see him there in the small-dreams here and now is definitely see the work and complete this beautiful model. hug Carlos Alberto Ferrari TR 11-04-2009, 08:31 PM Nice project. This has always looked more like a model car than a real car anyway. I'm looking forward to more. ataschner 11-05-2009, 06:02 PM Hi bros! First of all, I would like to thank you guys for the positive feedback. In this phase, the progress is slower if compared to the other steps (painting, detailing, etc) just because cut and weld new parts need to be 100% well scheduled and executed. I’m sorry for such few photos in this updating, but I wouldn’t like to leave this thread without updates for a long time after so much prestige. So, let´s go! The new fender shapes was done! http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/18.jpg The “C” pillars must be larger. It still need do cut and give the correct form. Also, the new spot line will be make and the top of the door as well. See this reference to quickly understanding of what I’m trying to do… http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/traseira.jpg http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/19.jpg And to give the “fat” rounded edge, I used two pieces with different sizes so I can make de fade effect in the door. http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/20.jpg http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/21.jpg Hum... new pieces to make new body shapes... http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/22.jpg “Whatta hell???” Am I building a “Xuning?” http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/23.jpg http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/xuning.jpg …to be continued! mvaneersel 11-05-2009, 08:17 PM Looking great so far! That's a heck of a body kit on the Fiat..... tuned.by.twenty 11-05-2009, 08:52 PM Looking great so far! That's a heck of a body kit on the Fiat..... It looks like the new kit from Veilside. :iceslolan The Ferrambo on the other hand is looking really cool. There won't be much left of the original car when you're done. klutz_100 11-05-2009, 10:54 PM Very interesting project! I haven't heard of this car before and am loooking forward to following your progress  MPWR is gonna be pissed that you posted a photo of his car though! :evillol: http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/xuning.jpg ataschner 11-20-2009, 09:37 PM Thank you guys. Thanks for the comments. The Fiat looks great, don´t you think? rsrsrsrsrsrs Thanks Carlos for your comments! You are the man! A little progress... I sanded the external rim, stripped the chrome plating and eliminated the holes and screws. In the next steps I will make the knock-off http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/24.jpg Construction of the spotlight with aluminum pipe which will receive a better finishing later… http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/25.jpg Now, the front work. After find the center, I defined the limits of the grille. I made this work using a tape as guide before definitively demarcating. This make possible to restart the lines if anything goes wrong at the first time. Then, just draw a line with a pencil or pen. http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/26.jpg http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/27.jpg http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/28.jpg http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/29.jpg The car had its front inspired by the Ferrari 250 GTE http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/61Ferrari250GT.jpg http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/30.jpg And after so much putty and sanding work, it is time to get a first primer coat to see how bad the building is doing. Still have so much work to do... http://www.small-dreams.com/Drago/Passo/ferrambo/31.jpg Thanks! tuned.by.twenty 11-20-2009, 11:14 PM Ah yes, the first primer. It can either show you're on the right track, or if you've derailed. :D It looks really great, I think it's safe to say you've got this under control. rsxse240 11-21-2009, 02:31 PM It really pains me to see that resin body chopped up and modified so radically. The '53 Ford is one of my all time favorites when it comes to automotive styling. However you are doing a fantastic job. I am going to follow this one, and steal a bunch of your techniques and styling ques (sp?) for some of my old customs. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
