Okay, so my mom is talking about getting me a Honda Passport.
Can anyone help me figure out what to do to make it faster, more powerful, etc??

You don't even have it yet and you already think it's needs more power? There's certainly nothing cheap you can do to it for any significant power gains. You can get turbos or superchargers for the V-6's but that's dropping a big dime and risking internal engine damage if you don't set it up right.

Well I'm speedaholic, and whatever I get I want to make faster, so being aware of what I can do is helpful.
But I can't any of the normal aftermarket parts for a Passport.
I haven't found exhaust systems or intakes or turbos.
Someone help please?

Well, I think you need to get over your 'addiction' and drive like a normal person. 4wd Rodeos and Passports weigh in at over 2 tons. Your not going to make one go super fast.

Not to mention adding speed to an SUV could send you rolling in a tight turn.:runaround:

Pacesetter made 1 set of headers and tested them and found they didn't make any more power then the stockers (so the stock ones flow very well)

Muffler .... you can buy a flowmaster and replace the stocker.

there use to be a supercharger available and sometimes they pop up on ebay.

if you want speed, why an SUV? The stock rodeo puts out 205 HP which is plenty.

air intake and muffler might get you 7-10 HP which you probably wont notice the difference, but will hear the difference....

The weak link on the +98 isuzu's is the tranny. If they are not maintained every 30k you will kill it launching it frequently.....

Ask your moms to get you a 93-97 Camaro

If you want speed, have your Mom buy you a Fox-Body mustang! Pull the crappy 5.0 Liter out of it, find you an older 302 and bore & stroke it to a 347. THEN you will have some speed (as well as handling)

The Passport ain't going too fast! Even if it did, it handles like a turd in the turns so DON'T EVEN THINK you've got what it takes to slalom that thing in the curves because you don't. NOBODY does!

HOWEVER, if you want to trade speed for pure fun of mudding and rock-crawling, you've got a good foundation to start with! I've never owned a Rodeo but I HAVE owned 4 Troopers (Still have 3 of them) and they drag Heeps (Jeeps) out of the swamps around here all of the time!

Well I fully intend to lower it and put Sway bars on there and that should improve handling.
But as far as buying a sports car goes, I can't, my mom won't let me own one due to the insurance costs.
I don't want to make it a mud ridding truck because everyone around here makes their vehicles "southern."
So I'll stick with anything that isn't my Ford Ranger. And I guess I'll just figure things out myself.
Anyone know if you can put the Rodeo's 3.5L in a Passport?

And since the weak links are the weight and the tranny.
Is there possible replacement performance tranny??
And is there any way to make the truck lighter with carbon fiber parts and such??

Unless your rodeo has a 4 cylinder in it, the 3.5 is not going to offer any appreciable performance gains. The 3.5 is a good engine but it's provides a lot of torque, not speed. I have run a 3.2 in a first gen trooper and I currently have a 3.5 in an SLX. no noticeable power increase in the SLX.

An SUV is a terrible platform to make a "hotrod" What engine is in the Ranger? Actually, the ranger is a better platform for what you want to do. it's lighter, it has better aerodynamics, it will handle MUCH better with the proper upgrades. If you really want to make a head-turning screamer of a vehicle, find you a 86-88 Thunderbird Turbo-Coupe, pull the drive-train out of it and put it in the Ranger. that little 2.3 4-banger can produce massive amounts of horsepower. I've seen that engine produce well over 400 HP and the guy has the dyno slip to prove it. It's relatively easy to get 300-350 HP out of the 2.3 turbo and that kind of HP with the low weight of a Ranger will haul a**!

3.5L offers 10 more HP. No there are no other trannies available that will bolt up. There are no carbon parts available for it, nor are their lowering kits (I've been into Isuzu's for the past 10 yrs and have seen all the normal questions before). There are already sway bars on it. Again, it is a heavy SUV it is never going to handle like car.

If it was me I would make a list of cars and suv's and call up your insurance company to see what it would cost to insure.

Okay, well first if I'm getting the Passport it'll only be for only a grand with only 90,000 miles on it. I can't currently afford anything over a grand.

I found a few chips and things that can up the power by like 50.

I was under the impression that a 3.5L rodeo got 250 horsepower.

Listen to the experts, grasshoppa. The Passdeo has a twin beam frame which makes it very tough, and very heavy. For an SUV it's quick though, the "quickest" in its class, I believe(I've had 3 4.0 Jeep Cherokees, and the Passport we had was a tad quicker off the line). The 3.2 V6 is DOHC, coil-on-plug, 24-valve, and makes 205 hp and 215 ft-lbs... arguably knocking on a 5.0 Stang's back door in terms of power.

Sadly, you can't find go-fast stuff for a Passdeo. Believe me, I looked. You CAN, I believe, find limited-slip differentials for the rear axle... it's a Dana 44. It was mentioned on here that the stock exhaust manifolds flow as good as headers, thus negating any aftermarket exhaust upgrades other than a muffler or dual exhaust pipes... however, I do have the notion to try prototyping a set of long-tubes, seeing how the cats are far enough downstream that you could fit a set without having to move them. Maybe that's where Pacesetter dropped the ball?

All things considered, I believe the 3.2 is pretty much maxed out as is, unless you go forced-induction, then the sky's the limit... wait, you'd have to upgrade the trans, too. Just save up your money, get an aftermarket air intake, and put a Magnaflow muffler on it with single 2 1/2" pipe replacing everything downstream of the "Y". Dunno how sensitive the fuel curve is, but you may wanna tune the computer for the extra airflow. Do these, and you'll have a decent ride that holds its own for what it is, and you'll get decent mpg, too. Ours averaged 23 mpg.

But for crying out loud... PLEASE DON'T MAKE A FART CAR OUT OF IT!!!

Lowered SUV's look beyond stupid. There, I said it. You're on the wrong track here. This thing isn't a Civic and never will be. Get over your so-called speed addiction. No one is impressed, no one likes you more, chicks don't care, if your car is fast.

If you want a nice looking SUV, get some wheels for it and some nice tires that fill out the wheel wells. Don't turn it into a ricer or it will just look stupid.

Trust me, the chicks ain't gonna dig it! Both of my daughters have SUV's but they are stock 4x4's and they are not out 'trolling" either! Even my son (who's probably just a bit younger than you) read this and thought it was a crappy idea. Getting a SUV makes you look like you're a "married man" or worst, it'll look like you borrowed your 'mom's car" May as well drive a mini-van! 'nothing sexier than cruisin around in the ole mini-van!

By the way...................those "chips" you're talking about? Don't waste your money! They don't work!

Don't take anything said on this forum in the wrong way. We don't normally come down hard on folks like this but your idea is BAD! Get something else for a $grand and go from there. you'll be a heck of a lot happier.

Subjectivity is a wonderful thing.
A.) The lowered Suv thing looking nice all comes down to personal taste. Yours will 9 out of 10 times be different then mine.
B.) I don't do what I do to be cool or impress women or anything. I just simply want to. If I honestly wanted to impress women I would save alot more money and buy me a Mustang(note not my first choice in cars, just generally females) or since I live in the south with all the down home folks I'd put my ranger on 35 inch tires.
C.) I've seen a lowered Rodeo before
D.) I wasn't expected massive horsepower gains. I just kinda wanted to stand a change in most stop light challenges.

I'm sorry if you think its a bad idea, but if I get the truck, I'll modify the heck out of it. I prefer the mini truck field so that's probably how I'll go. Big shiny rims, lowered truck, lots of bass, and just a tad bit of extra power. Honestly though, if I don't get the Passport I'll probably just keep my Ranger and mod it up.

With the economy the way it is, it's nice to know that you (your mom) has that kind of money to throw at a Rodeo. It doesn't matter how much money you put in it or what you do to it, it's still a turd. When you started this thread, you said you were a "speedaholic" A Rodeo is a terrible platform for that! That's all EVERYBODY here was trying to say. If want want to throw a ton of money at, go for it! It doesn't cost any of us a dime!

For the record, I never said lowered SUV's look like crap. Some of them actually DO look cool! YOU'RE the one that stated you wanted to make it go FAST and a Rodeo sux at that! I'm not knocking Isuzu's in any manner, afterall I STILL do own 3 of them. But I realized a long time ago that they aren't for speed. Would I lower a Rodeo? NO! You're right, my personal tastes wouldn't allow it! Would I lower a 66 Chevelle and put a 600 HP big block in it? YEP! (DONE IT!!!) Why? Because some vehicles just look cooler than others!

Yes i'm a speedaholic, I don't mean extreme speeds. If I could get it up to almost or at 300 horsepower it'd be great. And it'd fly. My friend has a durango that gets about 325 horsepower and it's terribly fast and its heavier than a Passport.

That Duh-rango has over 100 more hp. It has the engine to do it, too(American V8). How fast are you wanting to go... or by fast, do you mean "quick"? As one who knows, a 10-second car isn't cheap, and 160mph ain't no joke, either.
