Hello, im looking to buy a 99-01 ram non sport, in a few months. I love the body style so i have my heart set on this year,
I plan to rebuild the engine/transfercase/transmission/front axle when i buy it and swap the rear end from my current ram as its newly rebuilt. This shoud effective give me another 100-200K miles out of her. am i thinking correctly on this, please correct me if im wrong or missing somthing.

The rear end will be transfering in is a 9.25 out of my current 01 1500 sport, it has 3.55 ratio with a auburn gear limited slip and YG that i installed (thus the reason i want to keep it). I am trying to find the axle ratio for my front end and from what i have read it is a D44 with a 3.54 ratio. everythign i know says the front and rear ratio must be identical, could anyone explane/correct my information?

I am planing to put in an OX or ARB to the front end.

I would like some recomendations on sites with rebuild kits on them for engine/tranny, im going for HP over speed but still to be used as a daily driver.

thanks

My current ram being a sport, a color i dont like and a failing transmission. i dont really want to keep it, just use its parts on my new truck.
The information i currently have is from randys ring and pinion, and http://www.allpar.com/model/ram/faq.html

If you have a 3.55 rear ratio then your front is a 3.54.

ok, i read those ratios on the sites but wasn't positive. why is it off by .01?

The front differential being smaller has a different number of teeth on the ring gear and pinion gear than what's found on the rear differential but the ending ratio is the same and probably lots closer than the .1
Are you planning to go through the differentials too when you rebuild?

I will be rebuilding the front end, yes. the rear is already done in my current truck. what im going to do is buy a new truck with the same ratio and swap the rear ends between the 2 thus keeping my auburn gear limited slip in the rear. i will be adding YG's to the front end as well at the same ratio of course along with an ARB. I plan to use a larger compressor so i can adjust tire pressure or use air tools while in on the road. Given the type of driving i do im not expecting to need to use a OX with a solid linkage, that being said i plan to run the air hoses through the frame rails and along the mounting brackets in a high pressure hydrolic hose casing at 3/4" thick. so we will see how that goes.
