Timing Belt Tensionerf100240 10-20-2009, 12:54 PM I'm getting ready to do the water pump and timing belt on my 1995 1.3 L LSI Metro. Is it necessary to replace any other parts, specifically the timing belt tensioner? My car has 117,000 miles. If so, where can I get it, except for Chevrolet at exhorbitant cost? Thanks. F100. DOCTORBILL 10-20-2009, 03:40 PM Last week, I had my Water Pump, Fan Belt and Tensioner Pulley replaced. I bought the Water Pump and Tensioner Pulley at Schucks (O'Reilly) in Spokane, WA (Eastern WA). Checker, Schucks & Kragen Water Pump was $39 (Cardone) - comes with gasket. http://shop.oreillyauto.com/ProductList.aspx?PartType=54&PTSet=A Tensioner Pulley was $45 (Brand ?) http://shop.oreillyauto.com/ProductDetail.aspx?MfrCode=BAR&MfrPartNumber=0241204 Of course mine was for a '93 3 cylinder. Do the Fan Belt also....or have one in the trunk just in case. DoctorBill idmetro 10-23-2009, 09:25 AM You definitely want to do replace the tensioner, re-using the old one is simply inviting disaster to visit and when it does it will quite probably undo all your previous work. Why risk it in the name of saving a couple of bucks? I would think you would value your time and frustration more than the price of a tensionser. Personally I would not reuse the tensioner unless I had no other alternative. Keep in mind you are expecting this part to last the life of the new timing belt - another 100k miles. I've had good luck ordering parts from Rock Auto (a whole lot cheaper than the dealer, you get to choose which level of part you want, it gets delivered to your door and there are often discounts avialable if you search for discount codes) http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php Good Luck! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
