its a 95 sohc mtx with 4 wheel disk brakes and a few other options needs body work struts tires and a head (only 100 bucks thow)

im going in a perfomance orented direction but also daily driver

this is what i need to know what year head should i get i know some had different cams and such (the original head has burned valves and bad scaring on the cam) ialready know the basics like the atx tb , header exhaust i plan to port the head (only 60 bucks from local junk yard)
are there any other cheap performance mods i might not know about i have done a bit of googling so i have lots of info any tips would be great

As far as I know, the 95 cam is alittle bigger than the 96 up cam. I too am doing the same thing as you right now. I think I'm just gonna go with the 95 cam ... although I've heard something about a Magnum cam from later models but I'm not sure which years they were in. Good luck with your project.

The magnum cam from the 01+ ACR or R/T is a more agressive cam than the 96-00 cams. You can use DOHC pistons to slightly raise compression. If you can polish the head when you get it ported, DO IT. Makes a nice difference. You can also build your own 3.0L intake, DOHC muffler, oh and get a Performance PCM.

thanks for the responses so would the entire head off a 01 and up r/t bolt to my lower half (i will try to go this route if so) its too bad my 95 cam is trashed , i have no plans to do the lower half, i may have the head milled down a bit to bring up the compression the ecm may have to wait im on a small budget but for a muffler i had a glass pack left from my camaro so that is going on ill be doing the port work on the head myself so ill be polishing it as well (did my camaros heads turned out pretty good) i will keep you guyz up to date ive tore out the interior and doing some costom stuf to the wheels (same as das2123's now) probly going to lower it a few inches also

You can use a magnum head but there are some differences. The 01+ heads don't have an EGR and I am not sure about valve covers. You could get around the EGR by upgrading to a Mopar Performance PCM anyway!!!

so the mopar ecm automatically delete the egr or do i have to specify when i order

You can not use it, if you don't mind living with the CEL lit all the time. Although, people have reported no CEL after removing or blocking off their current EGR.

if the light is is on will it effect performance/ fuel economy ("limp mode") if not i can deal with the light

das2123
10-23-2009, 06:42 AM
It won't affect performance at all. It will light the CEL because the PCM won't get a reading from the EGR.

You can also use a resistor to simulate the load on the EGR to help keep the CEL from lighting.

so when i find my 2nd gen acr/rt should i rob the suspension also i can have the car brought to my shop if i take enough parts also a 10watt ressistor for the egr vale but what ohm dose it need to be or does it matter (what did you use (color bands))
thanks
o and nothing new im painting most of the interior parts black i shaved the trunk lock installed my amp speekers head unit and such (wiring is nice when you have no interior) just workin the body for now slow going have to sand by hand my da took a shit on me

Why would you want 2nd gen suspension? Springs would raise the car!

Not sure on the ohms for the EGR resistor. I haven't used it.

this is just for concept so ill have to redo it but i thought this would look kinda cool might go with semi gloss rather than flat tho might do some pin stripes to mach the car also

it came off a 2002 rt with 60000 miles on it the thing still cranked over before i got to it :grinyes: any way i started porting it a little on the intake side don't know about the exhaust side doesn't look like i can do much due to the water passage  gonna do the mani also probably wont help but its off so :screwy:

so tomorrow i should have it running and ill get it in primer might be ready to roll by Friday if i get the interior in quick

For the EGR resistor you need - 10 watt 50 ohm
