`67 L-88 Corvette.....1/12 of course

I had to do something different this time, so I chose to modify this into an L-88. For those of you not familiar with it, the L-88 was an optional high-output big block 427. In `67 it was exceptionally rare.....only 20 were made. If you have one of these cars, you could easily unload it for about a $million or so now.
Anyway, for this one alot needed to be modified. The air cleaner assembly (still not finished) was made from scratch and was a pain. The ring around the outside is real foam. You couldn`t get and L-88 with a radio, so I had to remove that from the dash, which was also alot of fun. There are a few other parts special to this car that I am working on (overflow bottle, modified radiator hose nozzle, etc) that I`ll post pics of once I am done. The car was researched to make sure labels, chalk markings, etc are correct.
Let me know what you think.

Wow another one, maybe you should build some doyusha and entex 1/12 because they have something different than a camaro and vette. :evillol:

Should be another beauty.

I'm amazed by all of this, but the cat seems bored. :D

Even the chalk marks on the chassis are there?! That's new to me.

Oh I will be watching this one closely, your realism in your 1/12 builds is amazing. I have this kit as well as the camaro to build. SO its great to watch and learn from the Master. So what colour you thinking of going with this one? Are the plug wires from the kit or did you make your own, if you made them what did you use, they look very real!

Thanks guys! "Stan" likes to keep me company, but I don`t think he is as interested in the modeling as he is playing with all the wires I am using for it.

You are too kind. I consider my builds to be "adequate"....still learning alot with each one amazingly.
The color is secret for right now, but I will tell you it is a very rare combination. The plug wires are from the kit. All I did was use a thin coat of Tamiya flat red acrylic. Over the black wires, it is a perfect match to the original wires that came on the real car!

Here are some pics of the chassis....just some touching up to do. I tried to add all the labels, chassis markings, etc. I also textured the fiberglass spare tire compartment a little bit which is a first for me. It looks pretty convincing in person.

Got the interior pretty much done on this. The radio has been correctly removed from the dash, which was a whole lot of fun, trying carefully to not damage the surrounding plastic. I must`ve sanded then primered about 5 times to get it perfect. You couldn`t get an L-88 with a heater, A/C, or radio.

Who would want a radio when you have that soundtrack under the hood anyways? :D

Ok guys.....some more work on this. As I mentioned earlier, these cars could not be bought with a heater. This required modifying the firewall:
http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c209/Hawk312/1-12%20L-88%2067%20Corvette/finished/firewall.jpg

I then had to fill the vacant spot where the heater box was, and then add the bolts back since there was just a block off plate installed instead of the heater box on the 1:1.
Here is a picture of it in the car:

Ohhh, by the way... this project is finished now. Look for a thread in the completed section shortly. :)
