just me again, got a 01 alero gx, with a 2.4 4cyl, with nearly 230,000 kms.
i fired it up the other day, and the engine sounded real rough like it is bein choked out, no power when accelerating, popping noise coming from the tailpipes, smoking from the exhaust manifold, and one hell of a stinky smell coming from the exhaust fumes, and the check engine light flashes, while driving. could the catalytic converter be plugged? i am pretty sure this is the problem, just would like to have some other opinions
thx for all the help guys

When the check engine light flashes it indicates a misfire condition. It could be the CAT converter or secondary ignition like spark plugs.

ok so definately not the cat converter, but i checked the spark plugs, and the number 1 plug was coated with oil when i pulled it out.......head gasket? or O rings right???
