Can someone remind me if the stalk simply pulls out or if it unscrews.

It's a 1984 Jeep Cherokee which uses a typical 1980's-era General Motors steering column, The stalk has washer and wiper controls at the tip, but no cruise control.

A friend has accidentally snapped the old lever off. The remains of the broken shaft is flush with the housing, so I will have to drill it and use an easy-out or something to remove it.... unless someone has a better solution??

Thank you

I dunno, but if you can find the replacement part you can look at how it attaches to the column. My guess would be that it is held in there with a pin or set screw.

most of those press in. drill a hole down the center of the remaining piece stuck. then take the back side of a cheap drill bit or tiny nail with some super glue on it and shove it in the hole you drilled. then just pull the broke piece out.
