Ignition tumbler removal '93 300 SEcarrofrio 10-17-2009, 01:41 AM Can somebody tell me how to remove the ignition tumbler on a 1993 300SE when you don't have the key? Thank you vectortech 10-19-2009, 11:34 PM Why do you not have a key? carrofrio 10-22-2009, 02:30 AM Why do you not have a key? I'm a locksmith and what happen is that the customer lost the key. Normally making a key for this kind of car would not be a problem.but in this case, the iginition tumbler was replaced before and the key for it is different than the one for the doors. This is the first time I would be cutting and drilling on this model (Body), and so far can't find to much info. What I have found, warns about a self-locking mechanism. Any help, suggestions are welcome. Thank you vectortech 10-22-2009, 09:15 PM Well this stinks- for as little as $25.00 you can have the dealer make you a blade key. They cut it off the vin. But if some one has been messing with this car, Its going to get expensive. They went to an updated ignition assembly. And if I remember right, You cannot get a new tumbler for an old assembly. They do have a lock out _ dont remember exactly how it worked , but I do remember that if it was triggered you had to buy an entire assembly I would try to call the dealer that it use to go to or the shop that put the different key in it- really need to find out as much info as you can to -See what was done. Need to find out all you can. This isnt an easy one! Good luck! carrofrio 10-23-2009, 12:49 AM Thanks for your help vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
