89 camry heater problemheather_83 10-13-2009, 02:04 PM My 89 camry heat dose not work. the fans blow strong the heater core is there and I was told it was fine just no heat. I need help please this is a 5 speed 4 door sedan power everything jdmccright 10-14-2009, 10:45 AM There is a little valve controlled by the hot/cold dial that controls how much coolant flows through the heater core. It is located in the engine bay near the firewall where the hoses penetrate. You should also see a small cable that connects the valve to the dashboard dial. Check that the cable is still connected and the valve can still move freely. If it is stuck, then it may need to be replaced. The cable may have also broken. It could also be a clogged up heater core...a possibility given the car's age, but not likely if the coolant has been changed regularly. RIP 10-14-2009, 03:21 PM Valve, core or...control panel switch. Had the same problem on an 87 a few years back. Blower worked fine but no heat. Played with the valve but all looked ok there. Eventually I noticed if you held the left/right temp slider switch either up or down the heat would pour out. Let go and the heat stopped. Sprayed contact cleaner in the switch area but didn't help. Took the panel apart and found the problem. Some of the solder points that connect the switch to the internal circuit board had cracked. Just retouched them with a solder iron, reassembled and the heat was back for good. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
