03 CHEVY S-10 v-6 vortec/PO 758 trans codeS10SNODOG 10-13-2009, 01:44 PM OK it's a 2003 chevy s-10 v-6 vortec Pick Up truck crew cab 130,000 miles on it coming home from the PA area stopped for gas as I was pretty low WOW got gas in Paterson NJ $ 2.15 a gallon wow thats cheep well I will fill up I get 3 blocks from the gas station and the Check engine light comes on and it dosent feel like its moving anywhere first thing I say is bastards put water in the gas and screwed up my car no its just coincidence the truck runs fine so I rule out the bad/gas theory i get home only with 2 & 3 gear working no 1 st or 4 th gears I guess a fail/safe in DRIVE I hit the gas and she acts as if I have the brake on and the truck does not want to go any where( very very slow ) but if I place it in first gear It will go ....not like it's normal but enough to get it up to 30 or so and manualy shift to 2 or 3 and will go ok but at 70MPH it's reving at 3,000 RPM's so I guess it's in 3 and I have no ( 4 th ) overdrive well I goto autozone get the check engine light code and it comes up PO 758 shift solenoid electrical a $ 20.00 dollar part but someone told me have it checked by a MECH. because it could be giving you a false code and the trannmission is really shot - needs a rebuild what do you guy's think...... thank you in advance ANT S10SNODOG 10-13-2009, 01:49 PM Sorry guy's it's a 2004 MT-2500 10-13-2009, 03:52 PM Never heard of a false code transmission shot deal on that code. Code is for a 2-3 shift valve problem or curcit problem. Get the solenoid from your chev parts dealer. And when pan is down wirh key on confirm 12 volts power on red wire to solenoid. Also make sure solenoid wire plug is pluged in good. If 12 volts to it key on and pluged in good replace solenoid and give it a try. May also be a good time to change transmission filter. One word of caution when installing transmission pan be careful and do not hit or bump solenoids/the plugins on back solenoids. May have to slide crossmember back to get pan off and on easy. when done and full of fluid. Clear codes and drive it. Let us know how it goes. MT-2500 10-13-2009, 03:55 PM Also check dealer and or owners maual and dip stick for correct transmission fluid. S10SNODOG 10-28-2009, 01:54 PM OK FIXED all it was was a bad Selonoid so while I had the pan down I replaced the both selonoids so I would not have to do it again in 5 months of so thanks for all your help. MT-2500 10-28-2009, 02:16 PM You are welcome and thanks for posting back the fix and how it went. Good luck vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
