1995 Pontiac Bonneville SE 3.8L, what should the oil pressure be on this car? Mine reads about 40psi, it just seems low to me, but I've never driven a family car before, it could be fine, I just wanna make sure.

Hot, cold, idle, at speed? What weight oil?

The 95 should run 10-30... General oil pressure should be 30 Psi give or take a few at hot idle and 60 Psi @ 1850 iirc.. There will be variances in that.. The gauges aren't always accurate but will give you a general idea... To test the true oil pressure you would need to install a mechanical gauge..

All of my 3800's do 60-70 Psi at road speed, and 30-40 hot idle...

Thanks guys, ya, mine stays right around 40psi, at idle, & driving around, hot or cold. I have 10w40 in there now. I guess I'll just go ahead & replace it, instead of waiting for it to completly fail & cause problems down the road. I just had that pan off a few weeks ago, had I known it was bad, It would've been a perfect time to replace it.
