Yeah, but it gives us another chance to drool over a GT-R.

That motor looks so much better than tamiyas. Plus gives us an opertunity to do some swaps. I hope fujimi releases just the motor like they did with the rb.

And yes. It is a FULL motor. Block turbos intercoolers and all.

All three R35 kit manufacturers (Tamiya, Fujimi and Aoshima) now offer the VR38DETT in their kits.

What's funny is that Fujimi added two intercoolers where the radiator should be located, so the kit has four intercoolers but no radiator (the usual Fujimism, LOL). But other than that, the Fujimi kit has the most detailed VR38.

Aoshima's VR38 is not so shabby either (far better than Tamiya's).

But the Tamiya one is not a full motor, just molded into the chassis or did I miss something?

I seriously doubt the Tamiya will ever come with a full engine; it's just a molded engine "tub" with a few extra intake parts. Detail painting makes it look fairly authentic, but detail freaks will want either the Fujimi or Aoshima GTR's with full engines (not to mention more detailed chassis as well). The Fujimi kit w/full engine is hands-down the best GTR kit. Tamiya's is good, very authentic body but too expensive for lesser detail. Aoshima's looks a bit funky.
