need help with rims for my 3000gt !!!!!Nick_yar 10-09-2009, 12:30 AM hey i looking to buy some rims for my 3000gt and i need some help. i want to get some wide rims but i need some opinion on the size i was planning to get 18x10 on the back and 18x9.5 on the front. does anybody know if its going to rub???? or anybody with a good set up??? Stealthee 10-09-2009, 01:31 AM Staggered rims on anything but a RWD is stupid. 9" wide is plenty wide. Going with super wide rims is just throwing away money because of extra width needed on tires and the fact the extra width will eat up wheel bearings. Nick_yar 10-09-2009, 01:39 AM so even if i lower the car it should still be good???...........im planning on buying some coilovers Stealthee 10-09-2009, 01:43 AM With real coilovers you actually gain clearance even if you are lowering it due to the loss of a major spring perch. I am lowered on Megan Racing coilovers with 17x9 wheels. With 9" wide wheels you can run anything from a 245 to a 275 wide tire. Nick_yar 10-09-2009, 02:01 AM is the gap pretty big with the 17" rims???? cuz im trying to make it as small as possible so i thought 18 would work good.....plus im going to lower it so im trying to see what size would work the best withought having it rub on anything??? any ideas or suggestions ???? vr4choke 10-09-2009, 05:59 AM ^look at his pic. thats the wheel gap. a HUGE improvement over the horrific stock one Stealthee 10-09-2009, 09:55 AM Gap is unchanged from 15" to 20" wheels. Wheel size does not determine wheel gap because you alter the tire size as you go up or down in wheel size. For instance, 225/55/16, 245/45/17, 245/40/18 are what would be used in stock applications. All tires are the exact same height so gap is unchanged. quackmandude 10-09-2009, 11:30 AM if u insist on going 18s then just dont go wider then 9in. another thing u have to consider is ur brakes if its a vr4. the calipers r huge on them so yea. if na then ur good with all wheels. Stealthee 10-09-2009, 05:04 PM Yes, I lowered the car. But in my sig I have 17's on. I currently have some stock 16's on and the gap is unchanged. That is what I mean. vr4choke 10-09-2009, 05:10 PM oh ok. i didnt know you changed your wheels. how come? Stealthee 10-09-2009, 05:13 PM I still have the 17's but tires were getting worn and I needed to get inspected. I had a good set of stock tires and wheels here from the one parts car and threw those on for now. Nick_yar 10-19-2009, 06:01 PM thanks for all the help Johnny3000 12-05-2009, 03:31 PM Gap is unchanged from 15" to 20" wheels. Stealthee 12-05-2009, 06:02 PM Please, for the love of God don't go with 20's, but if you did its 245/30/20 vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
