Newbie. Few in progress (mostly Datsun/Nissan)

I looked for the newbie introduction page and couldn't find it. So I thought maybe I could just start an introduction thread with a few photos.

I mostly did models back when I was in my early teens. 30 now and getting back into it. I still have lots of tools and paints and have built a few kits over the last few years. Most were never finished. I also just built the kit version of the HPI 510 cup racer to match my real one :)

I just ordered the Tamiya 1/12 Datsun 240ZG.

Mostly I work on my real 1:1 cars :) My 1972 Datsun 510 and my 92 BMW E34. The Volvo kit was modeled after my 94 850R turbo wagon that was also black with the grey wheels and lowered :)

I hope to get my Z kit this week. I definitely plan on doing a highly detailed kit and thinking of doing a "barn find" with rust etc.

Anyway... Hello. Looking forward to gaining some knowledge and to get inspiration.

Haha it is. I majored in furniture design and it was a piece I never finished. I bought a few yards of 12k thread count with some West Marine epoxy. With no idea of what to use it for lol.

Are the 510s your building revell? They look like a nightmare to build. Either way both look sweet. You should post some progress threads in the street section.

BTW Your 1:1s are beautiful.

The 510 looks awesome, as does the 1/10 (?) version. Great match.

Hey, just some food for thought..with the 1/12 ZG...barn find sounds awesome, but if you want some Watanabe rims, hit me up..
I have mastered a set of 16 x 8 and 16 x 9's with tyres..just waiting to receive them from my caster..

BTW, this may give you some inspiration for your model. My friend Eiji's blue ZG. He also has an orange one with wats, a high po L28 (bored and stroked to 3.1L) with 300+ hp!!! And slide valve carbs. Think someone could scratch build a set of these?? :)

Glad you found the place alright then. You're in good hands, plenty of helpfull guys on board.
I'll keep you updated on the Wat's....I should know more in a week or so...

You don't know how close mine got to being painted orange.....:frown:
I believe it was Eiji's orange car which gave me ALL my inspiration on my build..I really should change colour before it's too late..only chassis painted so far..
I fell in love with his car the moment I laid eyes on it, and knew then, that's where my build needed to be...:smokin:

Both Eiji's cars are amazing. The blue one is actually a 280 with the front and rear conversion!! It is amazing inside, out and underneath. Not to mention Eiji is a great guy!! He owns a company called Datsun spirit where he imports Japanese parts :)

I would go orange personally if I were you. Here are a few photos I took of his orange ZG. And then a few of my 510 with my dads Z collection. My dad has immaculate 70, 71, 72 and 73 Z's all with under 100k original miles :)

BTW, I just ordered the Fujimi Mines Nissan Stagea kit off eBay. Looking forward to building that one as well. My 1/12 Z just arrived and I am about to open it up to see :)
