Bigscale Calsonic Skyline Gr.A'90SuperMele 10-05-2009, 01:39 PM Hey everybody, Since i've builded my first bigscale a few weeks ago (Tamiya Mini), the microbe never let me go... So its time for this: http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010804.JPG Its the Fujimi Calsonic Skyline Gr.A'90 1/12. Cool thing is that besides the hood, the doors can open also. Because of a recent purchase: http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010812.JPG I'm planning on doing this: http://www.spc.org.uk/nissan/1-12_skyline/mods/index.htm Steve's build of another version made me wanna build my own. I will try to make the brakes, springs, pulleys etc with my new lathe. I'm a cad engineer in real life so making drawings of pieces wont be a problem. In school i've used a lathe before so i have big hopes for this one  Time for pics: http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010805.JPG http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010806.JPG http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010807.JPG http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010808.JPG http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010809.JPG http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010810.JPG http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010811.JPG http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010814.JPG Compared with 1/24: http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010815.JPG Greetz and wish me luck :D kans0002 10-05-2009, 02:33 PM Good luck! I am always impressed how large those 1/12 cars look next to their 1/24 little brothers. I need to do something in 1/12 scale one of these days. Can’t want to see how you utilize the lathe. I have one on my holiday wish list but am pretty sure it won't pan out. Stuart MidMazar 10-05-2009, 03:46 PM Sweet. are those aftermarket wheels? I think you should machine some new wheels, i would defently buy a set. I thought hiroboy was going to machine wheels for sale for these skylines? Good luck with this build. Keep us posted, any chance on making extra sets of parts and selling them. I think there would be an interest in them. Also i hope fujimi releases the gtr in 1/12. They have the prototype already done. da_ashman 10-05-2009, 07:28 PM Awesome Im gonna have to watch this one, Ive always wanted to get a 1:12 GTR, i really liked the HKS version they did. Cant wait to see more AAlmeida 10-07-2009, 07:19 PM Huge! I will follow for sure. Good luck! SuperMele 10-08-2009, 02:39 PM First part of many made.... http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010819.JPG Greetz stump 10-09-2009, 02:07 AM Nice start with the alternator....looks great. I too like the idea of making extra parts for sale....if you were up to it of course. There are sweet FA parts available for larger kits. :disappoin I thought Steve was going to do some part making as well, but I guess he's pretty busy these days.. MidMazar, 10-06-2009, 06:46 AM Also i hope fujimi releases the gtr in 1/12. They have the prototype already done. Are we talking R35 here...?? HELL YEAH ! I'll have a couple..:naughty: SuperMele 10-09-2009, 06:54 AM Nice start with the alternator....looks great. I too like the idea of making extra parts for sale....if you were up to it of course. Thanks stump, I havn't tought of the extra parts yet... The alternator was just a test and so will be the rest of the parts... If i am confident enough maybe i will sell them to the public. But because its not a cnc lathe, and i make parts with my mind instead of putting them on paper or autocad first, it will be very time consuming for serial work... Will see  KevHw 10-09-2009, 08:59 AM Subscribed! Seeing the body reach almost entirely across the diagonal of the A3 pad just says it all for me...huge! Looks like incredible fun though and I can't wait to see what else you lathe/scratchbuild for this. Best of luck. I'm wondering how it'll look finished, next to your Mini :p SuperMele 10-10-2009, 03:10 PM Thanks for the response guys! Did some engine work today: -Painted with black and alclad. -Made pulleys. -Made an oil fill cap. -Made engine belt. http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010838.JPG http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010832.JPG Greetz ajrichar 10-11-2009, 04:43 AM That engine is coming up a treat so far. I'll be watching this build intently! SuperMele 10-11-2009, 09:50 AM Did some more work today... Drilled holes for fueling: http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010840.JPG http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010841.JPG And we have turbo's. Standard they come as one piece of molded plastic without any detail. - drilled holes - placed a hollow rond piece of plastic - added a piece of electrical wire - sprayed alclad http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010843.JPG http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010844.JPG http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010846.JPG http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010847.JPG Greetz and let me know what you think of it! DerXL 10-11-2009, 02:00 PM Impressive looking engine. Never knew this car was available in a large scale. But than again, I'm more into 1/20 and 1/24 myself, so that might not be so strange than... Definately looking forward to the next update. SuperMele 10-16-2009, 01:48 PM Body primed for the first time: http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010855.JPG Tomorrow i will shoot the final primer and maybe color  Greetz Rye 21 10-17-2009, 11:04 AM Im building the same car just in 1/24 scale... Looks great, keep it up! ajrichar 10-17-2009, 10:47 PM Can you conrirm that this car is a 'crew-together' car? I have one myself (but the road car) and mine has screws and a small screwdriver to be put together. I accept that you will be building it 'properly' but wanted to know how you were handling the screws and screw-heads once put together? Are you going to putty over them to hide them? I'm very interested in seeing how you put this whole vehicle together and to what level of detail you build into it. In fact, I can't wait. Please keep us all updated with lots of pics. Cheers! Hey Ajrichar! This car is indeed a screw-together car. The screws that are visible once finished will be hidden, dont know how yet. But like on the engine, the pulleys are screwed to the engine block. Once the engine block is in place you wont be able to see them so i dont try to hide them. (Fear of messing things up ) I will keep posting updates, no worries. Currently the final primer is on and maybe i will paint it calsonic blue tomorrow. Are there any swirl marks close-up? That's my biggest problem. If you don't mind, what's your method of polishing? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
