So for as long as I can remember, my blinkers didn't work unless the steering wheel was in the up-most position. Then the left blinker started to sporadically not work, and now the left blinker isn't working at all, even with the wheel in the up-most position.

So my question is, why does it only work with the wheel in the up-most position, and why did my left blinker start to randomly go out?

I would greatly appreciate some info. Thanks.

I would be suspicious of a broken wire in the column. Doesn't take long to pull off the column trim covers and take a peak at the harness that runs to the multifunction switch.

Do the hazard lights work? Maybe the multifunction switch is going out and the wiring harness puts just enough load on the part to twist it enough to cause the faulty connection inside to go open.

Of, if the tilt feature has been used a lot over the life of the vehicle, maybe one or more of the wires in the steering column have stress fractures. It would certainly be easier to replace the multifunction switch, so hope that that is the problem.

If you want to tear in to the instrument column and test the wiring and/or multifunction switch, I could send you a PDF of the procedure from the service manual. Of course the test will only be effective if you can be sure the circuit is in the fault condition while testing. That will be the tricky part.

Yeah, that would be great Shorod, if you could do that.

And thank y'all.

I'll need you to send me a private message with an e-mail address for you that can accept PDF attachments.
