Anyone know where the hood light positive wire goes to from the wire harness under the hood? The ground wire is good, but I have no power going into it. I tested the wires w/o the light assembly connected to it. The light assembly and switch tests ok.

Well you could check with the headlights on but that would be completely and totally pointless. Another example of jcat not knowing a damned thing and wasting someones time.

The 94-6 cars are known to have AIR pump problems the underhood light is on the same fuse. When the pump gets water in it and dies it can blow the fuse and all of a sudden the underhood light does not work.

Check the fuse, it is in the underhood fuse box.

Here is the TSB info on this problem.

the ELC fuse 25A feeds this under hood lamp as well as the automatic level control if installed...this is located in the underhood fuse box.

the air pump has its own fuse...the air pump when water gets to it by way of the defective check valves on the exhaust manifold,,as well as the air pump check valve will cause you to get DTC check engine lights,,,this is because of water/exhaust getting into the maf by way of the air box air pump hose...

A second vote for the electric A.I.R. pump fuse. My '94 is exactly that way. So is my '96. I can't imagine there would have been a change for 1995 models.

I pulled the #1 ELC under hood fuse ,,,and the light went out....this is a 1996 so if this is the air pump fuse on the 1995 it must have been changed in 1996...this makes sense to me , as having a lighting circuit with an electric motor is not correct.....

the headlights need not be on for this light to work...this I had on another vehicle...

so it then appears that the 1996 year models they made the change over...why bother when they knew it was gonna be the last run ?

my 1996 was built sept 1995 texas ...the OEM manual for the 1996 vehicles ,,,diagram shows the ELC fuse feeding this underhood light ,,,and I confirmed this by pulling the fuse 6inches from the underhood light and it went out...
no wonder GM went under, lost so much profit.

well thats another change made between these years..

thanks for that posting showing this ..

I'd have to verify that on my '96, but there were several changes that year.
