Air intake silencerchrisanthony 09-29-2009, 07:06 PM Hey guys i have a 96 escort lx auto I'm wondering how do i get to and take out the air intake silencer. I've look through a few threads but none of them give step to step instructions. Any help would be cool Thanks, Chris chrisanthony 10-03-2009, 11:55 AM hey guys..if your not sure how to do it..can you tell/show me what it looks like? Davescort97 10-04-2009, 05:18 AM You usually have good response to your threads. Not sure why not on this one. The 91-96 models have the boxlike air filter element and on mine it is conical. Other than that, the front end of the air intake is the same. I think there are 3 bolts holding the air cleaner housing in and there are 2 bolts holding in the air silencer. Take all that off. Deep six the air silencer going into the fender well and bolt the air cleaner box back up. All you have to do is tear into it and you will be able to figure it out. It's not very high tech. lol. You'll get a nice throaty roar upon acceleration. You won't get much more horsepower, but it'll sure sound like it's pumping out more ponies. ~Dave~ chrisanthony 10-04-2009, 10:00 AM You usually have good response to your threads. Do you think that this setup is a good idea? Thanks, chris chrisanthony 10-18-2009, 11:08 AM Hi guys I'm wondering if the quality/performance and price of this cold air intake filter is any good. Intuit 10-19-2009, 12:27 PM Ferric Oxide a.k.a. "rust". ;) Depending on where this rust may occur you may not have to worry about it, but just best to be aware. AzTumbleweed 10-19-2009, 01:26 PM I remove my silencer and drilled holes in the base of the air cleaner box. First time I got in some major rain it started running bad. I think it was sucking up some water so I covered the holes back up. In hind site I wish I had left it alone.:2cents: vBulletin®, Copyright ©2010, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
