93 XLE V6 Auto. Just bought it and runs like a champ, gets awesome gas mileage. Few small problems I need help with.

Previous owner put in new plugs, cap, rotor, wires. All Bosch. I changed plugs when I got it home NGK it had Champions.

First problem he said after he did the tuneup it had a slight vibration/ stumble at idle but goes away when you give it a little gas.

My next problem is when you start the car the rpms immediately go up to 2000-2200 then drop down to normal idle range.

My next problem when you are driving and you give the car a far amount of gas you get some pinging and/or whistling. It will go away when you give it less gas. It doesn't do it under normal driving just when you get on it.

I don't want to start spending money on parts that don't fix them. I have throughly cleaned intake, plenum. The timing belt has about 66,000 miles and will be replaced this weekend. Please give me some answers on my few problems.

Replace all the Bosch with NGK or DENSO. See what that does for you. The pinging may just be the result of low octane gas. Have you tried 93 octane to see if the better gas makes a difference? My 5VZ-FE needs 93 octane.

Yes been using 93 octane since I bought the car and it has not fixed the problem.

I also slightly bogs down when it is cold.

Clean your EGR valve. <=
CHeck for vacuum leaks.
Check the TPS and connections.
Check your VAF meter and connections. <=
Check IAT sensor and connections.
Check ECT sensor and connections.
Check your HO2 sensor. <=

Put in new gapped plugs again. This fixed the detenation problem. Removed and cleaned the egr, IAC and front fuel injectors. Replaced fuel filter. Still have the slight miss and irradict idle. I did find that if I pinch the fuel return line the idle smoothed out. Initial idle at start-up still jumps to 2200 rpms. This is really starting to be a headache. My mom has the same car and it just purrs and inital start-up idle on hers is about 1400. My car will go to 1400 at start-up about 25% of the time the rest of the time it is 2200. Any more help anyone can send my way? I have NO check engine light or vacuum leaks. I checked the resistance of the distibutor, coil and MAF and everything is within limits.

Techron Plus and/or Seafoam. Follow the directions.

Maybe pinching off the return line results in higher fuel line pressure...an old fuel filter or failing pressure regulator? Predetonation and knocking is caused by carbon build-up in the cylinders and valves...Techron or Seafoam it.

Did fuel filter no fix. Will replace fuel regulator. Have run one seafoam will do another plus run it through the tank. Will report back and let know if we can fix it. How about the high startup idle? Idles fine minus the slight miss. When you start it rpms go up to 2200 then drop down to normal idle.

How old are the plug wires? I have seen cheap aftermarket plug wires last as little as 1 year or 20,000 miles. In his response Brian suggested replacing all ignition parts with NGK or Denso. That may be a good idea. At least OHM out the plug wires.

It sounds like the IAC is not functioning properly or the TB plate is sticking. Try pinching the air hose that goes from the intake hose into the IAC to see if you can affect the high idle.
