So I've had this car for over 2 years since we've moved to GA I need to pass Emissions. The check engine light is one and would you believe I haven't been able to find an OBD I reader for this problem. Does anyone know how to pull the codes manually? Also, could the reader just need an adapter? We have an autoxray reader? Can not find a specific Toyota plug though? I need help asap because tomorrow is the last day of the month and i need to register this vehicle which is our only vehicle!

Datalink connector is in the engine compartment near the passenger strut tower I believe.

I may be wrong but I think that Gen III Camrys wuth the V6 are already OBD-II compliant. Any parts store can read it for you for free.

If not, there is a Data Link connector under the dash behind the change holder where two terminals are shorted to cause the "check engine" light to flash the codes in sequence. I can't find the exact terminals now, so let me know if you need them. DO NOT TRY THIS FOR OBD-II EQUIPPED CARS and don't start sticking shunts into the connector hoping for the best.

Hope this helps!

[EDIT] Airjer posted as I was writing this...never mind.

yours should be OBD-II with the V-6 engine.

There is also an OBDII connector under the dash, next to the steering column. You need a code reader.
