Hello,
I rented a puller from auto zone and it came with 3 different size bolts. all of them are too big to thread into the holes on the crankshaft pulley. It looks like I need to make a trip to the local hardware store and pick a couple bolts but am unsure of the proper size. Thanks for any help.

Probably not even in the FSM up top. Hope somebody knows.

If AZ gave you standard bolts maybe all you need is the metric set they didn't give you. Pulling it for a timing belt change?

RIP;6041421Probably not even in the FSM up top. Hope somebody knows.I just read on Toyota Nation automotive forums that the timing belt cover bolts are the correct size to use but not quite long enough. If this is correct info. than I guess I could remove one and take it along with me to the hardware store and get the same thing except longer.

If AZ gave you standard bolts maybe all you need is the metric set they didn't give you.It actually is a steering wheel puller kit they rented me. The only other puller they had to rent was the three jaw type of puller that would possibly damage the crankshaft pulley. I read on another forum that someone tried to use this type of puller for their Camry and ruined their crankshaft pulley. Had to buy a new one at a cost of $150.00.

Pulling it for a timing belt change? Yes. along with replacing the water pump, camshaft seal, crankshaft seal, oil pump shaft seal, oil pump o-ring (spaghetti seal), valve cover gasket w/spark plug tube seals. The car is leaking alot of oil around the timing belt cover area now so it needs to be repaired badly.
The water pump, timing belt, oil pump o-ring and oil pump shaft seal are Toyota name brand. The rest I bought from Napa and Auto Zone. Well see how it goes. I never attempted a timing belt change.:uhoh:

My engine uses 8 mm thread. The length is something you need to figure out.

I found the right size bolts that will screw into the holes of the Crankshaft pulley of my 89 Camry. These are the same length bolts that came with the puller I rented from Auto Zone.

They are called metric hex cap screws. 6mm by 80mm (3.5 inches long) 1.00 pitch. Class 8.8

Thanks for the replies Brian R and RIP.
