Overheating! HELP please!!!Dego_princess 09-23-2009, 10:12 PM I bought a 2000 Ls 2 years ago. It's a gorgeous car but I've had nothing but problems with it. It keeps overheating. We've replaced the thermostat, thermostat housing, coolant bottle and the water pump. Oh, also have no heat. It ran ok for a few days after the thermostat was replaced then went back to overheating. Can anyone please give suggestions? This car is just sitting in my driveway taking up space. Any help is appreciated!!! shorod 09-24-2009, 07:25 AM Welcome to the forum! Is the car overheating according to the temp gauge, or are you getting an indication of excessive head temperature? Which engine does your LS have? Have you verified the radiator cooling fan is working properly? Did you bleed air from the cooling system after the water pump and thermostat replacement? Air in the system could explain both the overheating and the lack of heat. -Rod koolier 09-26-2009, 09:28 AM could be the hydraulic cooling fan, does this have the hydraulic cooling fan because mine failed on my 02 v6 with same overheating condition joegr 09-26-2009, 01:11 PM could be the hydraulic cooling fan, does this have the hydraulic cooling fan because mine failed on my 02 v6 with same overheating condition It could well be that the OP's hydraulic cooling fan is faulty. However that wouldn't explain the lack of heat. The lack of heat is explained by air in the cooling system because the OP didn't correctly bleed the system after doing the other work. Air in the system will also cause overheating. I'd bleed the air out first before working on the fan (using the proper procedure from the factory service manual for bleeding, the LS is very particular on this). vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
