I got a leak in my cargo area. I replaced the body/frame weather stripping ($100.00 from the dealer) and still it is leaking from the top where the latch is. The latch is not leaking. Do i need to replace the left side barn door stripping to stop leak? It has rained for another 2 days and no water in the bucket where it was coming in, but as soon as I take the water hose and put it on the center of the Barn doors it starts dripping from the top. I cant tell if the left hand barn door is too tight on the frame seal or is left hand barn door weather stripping is just worn out and needs to be replaced with the new frame body stripping. It looks like its making good contact. Any help at all...anyone?

Due to age, I suspect the rest of the weather-stripping should be replaced as well.

Water, like air, will find the path of least resistance.

Try the dollar-bill test. Close the door with a bill in between the door and frame then try to pull the bill out. If it slips out easily, then your leak is there. You should feel some resistance to removing it. Sometimes you can hear road noise coming from the gap, too...though in your case that could be somewhat unsafe for the listener.

Let's also remember that a heavy downpour is different than a directed, pressurized stream of water. Hose pressures can be enough to compress or deflect the seal and allow water in. On the flip side, it should hold up against an automated car wash. What am I trying to say? Keep your test on the realistic side. Don't blast the seal with full pressure from 6" away.

Hope this helps!
