Hey, My 1991 honda accord started stalling when I press the brake pedal (to stop the car). The car DOESN'T stall while parked and pressing the brake pedal, only when I bring the car to a halt......The brake booster vacuum seems to be ok. I think its something electrical....(also the speedometer doesn't work, it hasn't been working for a while)...could these problems be related??? I have a used guage cluster in the trunk...I can install it myself...but the car ran fine prior to the "brake & stall" situation even with the speedometer guage not working.

Anyhow, it seems the car ONLY stalls when the engine is running at a higher than idle RPM, like, say I'm driving at 20 or more miles per hour and I apply the brakes,,,the car comes down in RPM's then it hovers around 3 hundred RPM's for a second or two ...then the motor dies. EVERY TIME.

I can put the car in neutral and rev the motor as I'm bringing the car to a stop BUT it still dies out!!!!

NOTE: The guage cluster I can install came out of a 1992 Honda Accord with rear disc and antilock and Airbags with automatic tranny. Will it work on my rear drum brake, NON ABS car. My car is an automatic, too.

Goto a shop or a honda dealer.

no...Do you think it could be the crank shaft position sensor???

ok.now the car wont even drive at all without stalling...could this be a VSS problem??????cuz it runs fine till you put it in gear and try to drive it. The car has an automatic tranny
