2000 TC Air BagsELR 09-20-2009, 01:00 AM I disconnected the battery and jacked the car up to change the differential oil. Now with the car on the ground and the battery connected, the compressor cycles but the air bags don't inflate. What happened? How do I fix it? Thanks. remark123 09-20-2009, 07:29 AM Try turning off the switch in the trunk next time, that is why it is there. You probably messed up the actuator arm on the suspension... ELR 09-21-2009, 01:54 PM Do you know how to determine what the problem is and if it is the actuator arm, how to adjust it? remark123 09-21-2009, 05:38 PM The actuator arm is attached to the rear axle and the frame. it is possible that you over extended it, and it is not aligned properly, or it may have been bent/mislocated when you jacked the car up. do a search on this site, and you will find the exact location from those posts that relate. Another good source of info is at lincolnsonline, you can do a search there as well... Good luck ELR 09-21-2009, 06:09 PM Thanks for the assistance. I will give it a try. junk yard doggie 09-26-2009, 09:21 AM Yep I was thinking of that actuator (ride height sensor) I've got some for 90 to 98 models. Send me a part number and I'll see if it matches up if you need one. ELR 09-27-2009, 12:05 AM I found that one air bag was inflated but the other was not. I sprayed some soapy water on the inflated one and found bubbles. I will repalce them both. I noticed that the electrical connection on the uninflated one is not tight on the male end. I don't know if this contributed to it not being inflated. How do these come out? I was able to remove the bottom but the top seems a bit of a mystery. Any thoughts? The actuator arm does not appear to be damaged in any way. Any suggestions on a brand of air bags? I was looking at the Suncore product. I thought I would replace the air dryer at the same time. The car came from Florida with high humidity. Thanks. ED remark123 09-27-2009, 09:26 AM There is a spring clip on the top of the bag that retains the unit. Look carefully, you'll find it. If you don't want to spend the money for a new compressor, You can take off the dryer and put it in the oven for a while to dry it out. this works fairly well, believe it or not. Just remove the dryer from the compressor and put it in a 250-300 degree oven for a couple of hours. Search the site at lincolnsonline, they have a great write-up on it. If the solenoid is not fully connected, that could easily be the reason that that bag is not inflating/deflating.... Push in and turn to remove the solenoid. Kitt1993 09-27-2009, 11:11 AM Where is the dryer located on the air pump? remark123 09-27-2009, 08:52 PM It is on the output side of the air pump, just before the airline leading out to the bags. check out LOL... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
