idler arm replacement305caprice 09-19-2009, 01:03 PM well im trying to replace my idler arm i got the new part and everything only prob is when i checked the haynes manual (and i know alot of people have had problems with haynes im one of them ) it said i needed some special tool i was just wondering is there anyway to do it with out the tool Airjer_ 09-19-2009, 01:08 PM Should just bolt to the frame and then the joint should be held in with a nut. Remove the nut. use a pickle fork to separate the joint or whack it with a hammer until it pops. You can hit the center link or the knuckles with a hammer, but the pickle fork is a much cleaner, more precise way to do it without smashing your fingers in the process.
