Quick Questions on Spark Plugs and WiresBuckeye Guy 09-17-2009, 05:09 PM All, Getting ready to attempt the dubious spark plug replacement on my 2002 Venture and gathering the components right now (I think I will be set with the procedure for getting at them from below based on the numerous posts here). My questions deal with the material. I would like to go with OEM plugs, but the dealer will not give me a part number. The one I found that I "think" is correct is 41-101 (about $10 a piece). Can anyone verify this is correct? The dealer wants $80 for OEM wires, but the Auto parts store says their Autolite "professional" wires are even better then OEM for $25 total. I thought I had read at one point that people were strongly recommending the OEM wires even with the extra cost. Has anyone had good / bad experiences that could point me one way or another? Regards, Pete civic lx 09-17-2009, 05:37 PM I always use www.autopartsgiant.com (http://www.autopartsgiant.com) for looking up parts. It looks like you have the correct plug number 41-101 ($6.50@) and the GM wires are $53.00. Spend $99.00 and you get free shipping and no sales tax. I have to say that I run Boshe Platnium plugs and some BWD Select wires on my 02 Olds without any problems. wafrederick 09-17-2009, 11:20 PM Do not ever put Bosch plugs in a GM,do not last!I see Bosch plugs in a GM,they go in the garbage can and that is what they are worth for.I pulled plugs out of a blazer would not start and one cause was Bosch plugs which were brand new and installed AC Delcos.Install only AC Delco spark plugs in a GM.Do not rely on the $25.00 plug wire set, cheap is not always better and plug wires are this way.Go with the $80.00 set instead and replace the fuel filter also.It is part of a tune up and the most neglected filter to get changed.A plugged up fuel filter does put a strain on the fuel pump and will kill it. shooter_va 09-18-2009, 05:55 AM I usually buy all my parts from www.rockauto.com , they have a lot of OEM parts. Buckeye Guy 09-18-2009, 01:02 PM I looked at the Rock Auto web site and noticed that they sold both a 9726UU and 726UU, with the latter being $20 more expensive ($47 as opposed to $27). Does anyone know if the 726UU are a higer quality wire? It seems odd that they both come from AC Delco, but one is almost double the cost.
