98 Windstar wheels & tires on 99 CavalierDipakG 09-17-2009, 03:39 PM I'm thinking of putting on my 98 Windstar wheels and tires on my 99 Cavalier. With some research I found out the bolt patterns for the Windstar are 5x108, and the hub size is 63.9mm. The bolt pattern for the Cavalier is 5x100, and the hub size is 57.1mm. The Windstar tires are 215/70/15 and the factory tires for the Cavalier are 195/65/15. I have no idea what all this means. Please reply and let me know if what I am thinking of is do-able, and what issues I might run into, and the possible solutions to those issues. Thanks all for all your terrific input on this matter. Erik2002Winnie 09-17-2009, 05:47 PM basically no. 5x108 is the number of bolts on the huib and the spacing in MM. (i think) that right there kills it, the winnie rims wont physically fit on the studs. any mods to get it to work without replaceing the hubs is DANGEROUS tire size difference is moot after that. why would you want to anyway? tomj76 09-17-2009, 06:35 PM Erik's right on the nose... The rim won't fit the Cavalier lug bolt pattern. Even if it did, you'd have to be sure that the inner part of the hub matched the inner part of the wheel, where it actually rests on the hub. Had these been OK, you'd still have more to do. You'd have to be sure the tire was not too big for the wheel well. The tire size values represents the three critcal dimensions: tread width, sidewall height, and rim diameter. The first number is the tread width, in mm, the second is the sidewall height in percentage of the thread width, the last is the rim diamter in inches. If you run the numbers, you'll find that the Windstar tire is about 2 inches larger diameter than the Cavalier tire. You have have extra room in the wheel well to account for movement of the suspension, so it might not fit. The larger tire will also cause your speedometer to read low. As stated, modifcations to the rim and hub are unsafe. So, it doesn't fit the hub, it doesn't fit the wheel well, and it would be unsafe if you make it work. DipakG 09-17-2009, 10:19 PM Erik2002Winnie and tomj76: Thanks to your great replies I now know not to try this. And, other future readers of this thread will be educated on the matter too. Thanks again both of you!:smokin: vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
