Honda NSR 500 Nastro Azurro * Parts Panel *iceracer1 09-16-2009, 11:11 AM Hi guys, for my fathers birthday I want to make something unique. I saw Tamiya's and Tami's parts panel already, and I also had this idea for a long time now. http://www.tamiya.com/english/news/news0901/images/21209/21209_l.jpg http://www.tamiya.com/english/news/news0901/images/21204/21204_l.jpg We have a nice poster of the Honda NSR 500 driven by Rossi on the wall, so this would be cool next to that poster. First I bought the kit: http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/intro_001_%28Medium%29.jpg Today I bought the paints for this bike. Yesterday I bought a nice panel with 4.5 cm dept. This would be perfect. http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/intro_002_%28Medium%29.jpg The cowling of tis bike is 1 piece, so I'll cut it into two, so it fits better in this panel. Kris. iceracer1 09-26-2009, 01:32 PM Here's my first update. First I started with the cowlings. Because they didn't fit into the display panel, I had to cut them in half. So I used my saw and did the job. After a coat of white primer, I painted them TS-26 Pure White. The mudguard and tank are painted TS-16 Yellow. http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/paint_001_%28Medium%29.jpg Today I had time to mask off the cowlings. The upper cowling needs to be yellow and the other cowlings needs some MS-5 Metallic Gray. http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/paint_002_%28Medium%29.jpg http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/paint_003_%28Medium%29.jpg In the end of the day I clearcoated them with one layer TS-13. That's better for the decals. http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/paint_005_%28Medium%29.jpg http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/paint_006_%28Medium%29.jpg A couple days ago, I also painted the wheels with TS-Gun Metal. http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/paint_007_%28Medium%29.jpg The frame and rearlink parts are also painted already. http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/paint_008_%28Medium%29.jpg For the seat I used Scale Fabric black. http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/paint_008_%28Medium%29.jpg I sanded the tyres: http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/paint_010_%28Medium%29.jpg And pianted the brakediscs. http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/paint_011_%28Medium%29.jpg Kris. NewTom 09-26-2009, 02:09 PM nice progress! good luck with the rest!! Tami  ridefast 09-27-2009, 04:21 AM Great progress! BTW I like your idea of making 'parts panel' yourself. Now you made me want to give it a try as well. :) joelwideqvist 09-27-2009, 06:16 AM Great job on the painting. These part panels are really sweet. Not that I would pay the Tamiya price though, better to do it yourself, like you do. Best of luck. /Joel ketje 09-27-2009, 03:27 PM Well I will be following this built. This is something interesting and different. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
