1997 SL1, High Altitude problemserik1012000 09-15-2009, 07:19 PM Just moved from NY, to Colorado. My car was doing ok in NY, although had multiple codes for he check engine light, including a failed O2 Sensor. Now in Colorado, my car seems like it is not getting enough gas when I start it, so it takes a few trys, then it idles at stop lights at 500 RPM's, but in NY it was 750-1000RPM's. It will over-heat when stopped, and running in Drive for a period of 5 minutes or longer. What is the problem here? I don't know if I need a new Thermostat, do I need a new O2 Sensor. I know I could use a tune up, but cannot afford it right now. Can I do these things on my own? Can anyone help me out with this. Thanks, Erik RC1488 09-15-2009, 09:42 PM Most items you can do at home by yourself. You need to get the SES codes along with a new brass ECTS. i have posted a video for this in other threads. Get the codes and that will help lead to a diagnosis. Altitude has nothing to do with how the car is running. erik1012000 09-16-2009, 10:41 AM Thank you for the information, thats what I will do..
