Want to change colorevildragon 09-08-2009, 02:14 AM I really want to change the color of my car. The white is getting harder and harder to clean, with my new parking spot at home. And to add injury, many people seem to have a habbit of swinging their doors open in parking lots, and now I have many marks on BOTH sides of my car, black scratch marks, that just won't clean. (gah, I want to find out who keeps doing that!!) But, where can I get it painted for a color change, cheapest and best (an odd tradeoff, I know). And if I do get the color changed, what color should I get? I want a color that is a head turner, but doesn't scream, and doesn't say "im gangsta!" (which kinda ruled out blue, because blue caprices seem to have a crowd I don't want, no offense). Or? Should I keep the white and just get it repaired? Blt2Lst 09-08-2009, 01:57 PM IMHO, I would keep the factory color. Changing the color will cost more (if done right)than repainting with the same color. Also, I have found that shopping on price alone for a paint job is not the way to go. Sure you can go to Earl Sheib or maaco and get the $299 special but the cost almost always goes up when you include any bodywork that inevitably needs to be done also. A single stage paint job will also cost less than base/clear (2 stage) paints. For white, you could probably get away with a single stage paint job but a 2 stage paint job will make your car POP. Single stage is also cheaper to have repaired when you get some door dings later on. I always liked white cars, they seem to hide the dirt better than other colors IMO.:2cents: bhw33191 09-08-2009, 07:00 PM I wish i still had my factory paint!! The MAACO job that was done on my car looks pretty crappy now in my opinion. Mine was done about 11 or 12 years ago, so i guess its in fairly good condition for non-original paint but its not good enough for me even though i think the previous owner paid for the higher end paint job. Up until recently the clear coat started peeling, and once it starts itll never stop, just keeps getting bigger. I'm not sure if this could be fixed, but i'm gunna make sure when i eventually get mine painted that its done by a pro. But first i need my engine running in top shape. You'll be kicking yourself later if you buy price over quality. I think if you paid someone to detail your car and get rid of the scratches, nicks, swirls, and whatnot it'd be looking like new. But if your really sick of the color, i stress you save the money for a quality job. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
