1999 Dodge Intrepid 3.2L 24 valve SOHC timming process and tools needed?ShannonCraig 09-05-2009, 11:58 PM I have tried to replace the timming belt on my Intrepid, and have run into some complications with the timming. I followed the directions in the Haynes manual. Everytime that I put the belt on and try to adjust the tensioner--it pulls the sprokets about 1/2 a tooth off. Thinking that I had it set correctly, I proceeded to try and pop the engine over..causing the engine to blow the upper intake manifold. It asically cracked it, and blew one plug out. I have since purchased another upper intake maifold. I would like to know if there is a way that you can keep the sprokets where they belong during the tightening process. Are the certain tools that can be purchased to make this easier--than guessing?? I have considered taking the 3.2L out and replacing it with the 3.5L, as they are easier to find. With this thought I would also like to know if the switch would bolt u and plug in as the 3.2 does? Any help here would be appreciated. thank you.. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
