Tamiya Mercedes SLR Roadster (Hobby Design conversion kit)BVC500 09-05-2009, 10:55 AM I actually worked on a model yesterday! Just a few photos, whose quality I apologize for. A few things to note: 1) The Hobby Design kit is expensive, and I've already found that the resin-cast doors are too small. I thought they were useless from the get-go, since it's easy enough to just cut the frames off the kit-doors. At first, I didn't think the resin trunk lid was necessary, but the trailing edge that meets the soft top is a different shape (less rounded) on the roadster compared to the coupe. 2) The Hobby Design instructions fail to point it out, but you'll have to trim the rear parcel shelf supports (parts C8 and C10 as seen in first step of instructions), otherwise the soft-top shelf sits too high. It will be painted Cobra Colors Mercedes Caspian Blue Metallic with a sand interior (See picture. Interior color will be darker, more yellow and richer than the light beige shown on the SLK). That's it for now. Hopefully better photos next time. http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x82/BVC500/photo.jpg http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x82/BVC500/photo-2.jpg http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x82/BVC500/photo-1.jpg http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x82/BVC500/photo-3.jpg http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x82/BVC500/Caspianblue.jpg Rye 21 09-05-2009, 11:24 AM Its gonna look great, I can already tell ;) Great looking kit for a great looking car! BVC500 09-05-2009, 03:47 PM Thanks! I like the SLR, but I'm sure there's going to be a debate between the SLR and the new SLS AMG, which will uncovered on Sept. 10th. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
