I have a 2002 Venture. I have an intermittent problem. When stepping on the gas the car does not go very fast, and the engine does not rev up. I replaced the gas filter, but it still is doing the same thing. My next guess is the gas pump. Am I looking in the right place? Is there anything else I should look at?

Don't replace anything else until you have a fuel pressure test performed as you might be 'throwing parts' at the problem. You need a proper diagnosis first.

Fuel pressure tests, one with engine off/key on and one with the engine idling.

Also you might have a plugged cat. A lot of GM vehicles around 2002 had problems with the cat plugging up and restricting the exhaust. The engine would have no power and would not rev.

What codes are you getting?
