Thought I would share this one. 1996 Taurus. While running an errand, I step on the brakes and pedal goes to floor! Lucky no drivers were close to me. I pulled into a parking lot and looked under car. There was a puddle of brake fluid under the drivers side. The lines under the car were rotted out. Had them replaced by a shop for $250. The guy said there is a plastic cover over the lines (at least at that spot) where crud, salt, water collects. That contributes to the failure. He removes all covers and tosses when he does a line job.
