Anyone know what type of grease this is on a 98 Camry? It is white. Ok to repack with regular wheel bearing grease or do I have to clean out all old grease first? Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that is a sealed bearing and part of the hub assembly that is not serviceable! How did you see any grease?

They are sealed bearings. They are replaced as a separate unit on non-ABS Camrys and as part of the hub on ABS versions. Easy but not cheap.

I had to remove the hub to get enough clearance to break loose the strut mounting bolts. When you remove the hub, you can see the back of the ball bearing. The cavity was filled with old white grease which I carefully removed. I would like to replace with a compatible grease. Toyota told me it was a "white lithium" grease (it is white). I know some greases are not compatible so I asked the question here and on the BITOG forum.

No way I am going to pull the hub apart and I don't have a good way to flush out the remaining grease. Just want to repack and get some more miles.

Lithium-based bearing greases can be red as well. But if Toy has a specific recommendation, of course you'd be better off following them.

If you have a bearing packer, you might be able to use it with the hub albeit with alot of wastage. Just do your best to spray/blow out the old grease then pack it.
