Hey guys, well as promised i am making another thread that after having to rehost and delete my old pictures/thread.

basically started with the sard supra, cut out the hood and used a scrap supra to rebuild the engine bay components.

this one will use the tamiya supra chassis as it will be a street version of the sard and that way i can use the tub and the street seats, etc.

from the pictures you will see where the progress is currently, but after debaiting for a long time im not going to give up the final details (or plans on the details) of the car except for the body, it will remain wingless, most likely just use the unmodified tamiya hood, deleted hatch latches on the back, and use the Volk TE37 18" wheels which have al little twist to them as you will see in the pictures.

all im going to say about the engine is that it will be a modified 2jz, but not exactly the way the other 2 have been that ive done so far :) so say tuned, and on with the pics:

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r209/aemravan/IMG_7981.jpg

i did a layer of primer just to see the areas of imperfections so i can fill them in with putty and make the milliput flow into the body the best i can:

here you can see that the tamiya chassis has a lower mounting point than the sard body, so some modification will be needed to house the intercooler properly.

and now for the wheels, remeber the volk te37's you saw above? well originally i was going to go with the color they came in, but soon after looking at some pictures of these:

i quickly fell in love. so here is the new wheel that is going on the supra:

hope you guys like it :)
i really like how the wheels came out, and im debaiting wheter or not i will end up putting the decals on that came with the wheels or not, maybe just the one that says volk, im not sure, but stay tuned, if this project ends up looking even half of what i invision it to be, it will be really awesome i think :)

Good start, but that body still needs tons of work.
Wheels suit the car well.

thanks man.yea the body is FAR from finished lol, i need to do a lot of body filler work to get rid of the mating edges between the putty and the plastic. also need to bring out a couple of body lines on the side skirts, as well as find a way to put the bumper lines back where they are supposed to be.

i think i finally decided on a color, im thinking about going with something similar to the porsche in the picture above, but perhaps a bit more lighter and with a bit more metal flake in it... or maybe a flat glossy light grey, or silver color. too bad testors doesnt make any color like that i can get from a local store so i'll order some tamiya acrylics online and play around with them.

thanks for all the comments guys, gona keep me motivated :) i think im going to start the engine work pretty soon so there could be a bit more of progression pics, and b/c its my favorite part of all the builds :)

:iagree:

Need more sanding and puttying. Also I don't know if your using body filler, but thats what i would use before primer. As i had some problems not using body filler just primer. Then once i layed the base coat and clear, you could still see the putty below it.

yea i still ahve a LONG road ahead of me. the main reason for the primer was to bring out the areas of imperfection... i got to the point where i just couldnt feel them to the touch, but i knew they were there, so i primered it to see where the trouble spots were. im going to sand it completely before any sort of putty work (i am going to use putty/body filler to fill in the imperfections) probably going to take it down to the bare plastic after noting where i need to go back over .

so i couldnt get myself to do more body work since i was in school from morning till about 7pm.... but i decided to give the engine work a shot, well here is where 2 or 3 hours of work left me:
http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r209/aemravan/IMG_8026.jpg
http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r209/aemravan/IMG_8027.jpg
http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r209/aemravan/IMG_8029.jpg
http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r209/aemravan/IMG_8030.jpg

im pretty satisfied with the fitment and the way the turbos sit so far, but i need to redo the heatshield on the front turbo b/c its slanted over too much towards the engine and exposes the turbo too much. you probably cant tell from these pictures, but all of the headers on the exhaust manifold are wrapped in exhaust heat wrap (looks the same as my other build with the downpipe), i''ll try to get some better pictures of them later when i figure out how to run a downpipe to BOTH of the turbos and connect them, lol.

as far as fitment issues, the only thing i ran into was the hood not closing, but i just pushed both turbos down until they cleared.
so what do you guys think?
